This post appeared in Dan Tong's excellent thread about the EWI-5000 wind controller. I recommend the thread. I didn't want to hijack it. Hey Ray,
Recently made an EWI guy kind of miffed when I plugged my old Yamaha Breath Controller into the old Yamaha KEYBOARD and proceeded to trade licks with him.
We were in Eb.
Using the keyboard like that, with the Breath Controller for the note initiations and etc. was able to take advantage of all those Black Key tricks, the "automatic pentatonic" thang - while my man was over there fingering his butt off.
Kind of made me wish that some of my more modern keyboards would have that Breath Controller input on 'em.
But technology is indeed catching up, have you heard any of the YouTube demos of the brand new Tyros 5 and its intelligent articulation algos? Whoop.

I totally agree, Le Miz. Mac's contribution to helping people understand Band In A Box is unparalleled. He's nothing short of a legend. Like you, I hope he reads this and knows that he is missed and very much appreciated.

Sorry to diappoint you, but Mac's post is from 2014. Thanks Keith for pinch hitting for my wife. She's the one who usually clues me when I do stupid stuff. Now my last night's search results make more sense. I searched on Mac's name after seeing his post. All I got was a bunch of stuff from 2014. So I deluded myself into thinking that the search database didn't update instantly, logging the "new" post. Like I said I do stupid stuff, and clearly my reading comprehension isn't that great either. But maybe there's a silver lining. Maybe Mac reads occasionally. I meant what I said. I really admire the guy for who he is and what he's done. I've never seen anything like it. Sorry, Noel96, for leading you down the garden path. You're right, he is a legend. Hey, maybe he'll read it and your comment will make him feel good.

Hi Le Miz, No apology needed. I thought you commented on the post as a way of acknowledging that many of Mac's contributions are still relevant and useful even though it's been around two years since we last saw him in these parts. I just checked and he contributed an incredible 38,502 posts to these forums. That's breathtaking! To give the figure perspective, at the rate I'm posting, it's going to take me another 26 or 27 years to get to that! An incredible number of people have benefited from his advice. I reckon he deserves every accolade and good wish that comes his way  Regards, Noel

A lot of Mac's best stuff happened out of the public eye in PMs and on the phone. I have called a few times since his departure from the forums, but he hasn't picked up or called back. I miss him a lot.
