Hi, is it possible to flip the guitar window to right side
so it is usable and useful for left handed people
as it is at the moment, it is not inline with my left hand
and I cannot simply mirror it for learning

Please help - Thanks

Firstly, welcome to the neighborhood

I don't profess to know the answer, but the Fretlight Guitar feature supports LH operation.
(Options > Preferences > Guitar)

If it isn't available though, a trip to the Wishlist is in order.

Thank you very much but the option did not flip it to the left hand side, maybe it works in the new version but in mine, it didn't

Hi,

It's not currently possible to display a left-handed fretboard in the guitar window, but I'll pass along a request. Seems like it would be useful. smile

Thanks

Is the left handed (flipped neck) available on the BIAB 2017 for Windows ? I use a Fretlight Left handed model and I know that Fretlight has all the software images mirrored for lefties.
It would be great to have this in BIAB too ! I'll buy the latest version if it does, otherwise I'll stick with BIAB 2014.

I'm a southpaw also but have a slightly different take.

I've looked at so many right handed fretboard diagrams over the years that when I see a lefty one I can't understand it.
True.
I have a fretboard app on my ipad i had to switch back to righty.

In fact even watching lefty players confuses me.

I guess its too many years of staring at right handed 10 string pedal steel charts.

No responses yet that can answer my question, whether or not the newest BIAB is left hand compliant ?

Jim,

Kent from PG Music made a post above your earlier one. Unless I'm reading it wrongly, I think he has answered your question.

Noel

Hi,
That post by Kent was done a year ago in response to someone else. I don't know if there's been a newer version made since then. As i checked the history, these requests for a left handed option have been "passed along" for years and nothing gets done. At this point it's just patronizing.

It's simply doing a mirror image of the guitar neck....but since BIAB chooses not to accommodate lefty's, that means that the lights that show up on the neck of the Fretlight guitars and bases, who advertise themselves as being BIAB compatible, are backwards on their lefty guitars.....which was a real disappointment as I thought using the Fretlight software might have corrected that, when used with BIAB. Once I hooked it up however, the software only goes through BIAB and bypasses the Fretlights software completely. This doesn't help the lefty at all.

So if the request to a do mirror flip for lefties continues to be ignored, I'm not going to bother getting another version of BIAB until they do.

Ahhh.... yes I see now. Thanks for correcting me. I didn't check the time stamps and note that this was an older post that had been resurrected.

Noel

Thanks Noel, it's nice to know that ONE person was trying to help answer the question. So with no other responses, I must assume that the answer from BIAB is a "no". Not much fun having the chords, melodies and solos showing up backwards and upside down on the fretboard of the Fretlight guitar and BIAB guitar neck. These days, IMHO there should be a disclosure that BIAB is not compatible for left handed players.

Best Wishes,

Jim

If you have 2 monitors you can drag the fretboard over to the second monitor then set it to flip horizontally giving a left hand fretboard.

Thanks ,that's a clever work around, if I had a spare monitor, but for what I need, has to come from the software.
The problem of BIAB not having the option to flip the fretboard around in the software, is that when working with a Fretlight instrument, as advertised, the LED's on the neck are showing up in right handed positions on a left handed neck. I was greatly looking forward to having the scales, models and chords light up properly on the neck, to use with all the chord changes in my heavily arranged backing tracks.
It does it for right handed guitars but as I'm now finding out, still haven't provided this option for lefties.
They've been saying things like "great suggestion", "easy fix", "much needed" for years now, and yet nothing happens. I'm actually shocked they still haven't added the left hand neckboard flip, being that Fretlight sales have taken off in the last couple years, and both advertise being compatible.
Sorry to keep harping, but I'm greatly dissapointed that I have to wait yet another year to see if they feel like doing it.

Fiddler2007,

Your flipscreen link is a good suggestion but will not work as the Ctrl + Alt + arrow key rotates the screen. I don't think there is a hot key combination to mirror image a screen.

Having the guitar neck flipped with BIAB isn't as big an issue as not having the chords, scales and modes flipped on the neck of my left handed Fretlight guitar. That was the point for getting one, which both Fretlight and BIAB advertise, that BIAB is compatible.
Nothing is said about not being compatible for lefties.

Having all the chords etc showing up backwards on my guitar makes this feature worthless.
Pull up the guitar neck during a song, and you see the chords blinking and the individual notes showing up on the neck, for any of the instrument tracks, regardless of what instrument you choose.
No left hand option... still after all these years.
Now on the bottom left corner of the guitar neck, you see the word "set". Click that and the guitar menu options show up. You see an unchecked box that says "Fretlight..." If you have a Fretlight guitar, all the notes on the simulated guitar neck on your screen are now showing up on the neck of you guitar. Pretty cool if you have a Fretlight, right? It isn't cool for me,however because they are all BACKWARDS. BIAB continues to ignore adding the left hand option. So, AGAIN I guess I wait another year without upgrading BIAB and see what happens next year.
