Hello All,
I started using SampleTank 2.5 with BIAB.
I noticed that the number of samples included are limited with this free version.
I have SampleTank 3 FREE installed but again the number of samples included are limited.
When I select VST SampleTank 3 I get the error message " Not a Valid VST" and "JBridge not installed".
I am not sure why I need JBridge. My OS is 64 bit and isn't SampleTank 3 64 bit?
Any recommendations for other SAMPLERS would be appreciated.
Thanks all !!!!!!!!!!!!

The free versions of most programs are somewhat limited. After all they sell unlimited versions for a living.
You need JBridge to use SampleTank3 with BIAB and RB because Your OS might be 64bit and SampleTanke 3 is 64bit but BIAB and RB are 32bit.

Hello
Thanks GHinCH. That makes sense. I forgot that BIAB is 32 bit.
What Sampler(s) do you recommend?
Cheers!

What type of music to you generally play/make and how much do you want to spend?
Asking which synth/sample playback synth is recommended, or worse which is "best" is like asking which flavor ice cream is "best" or or which one to recommend without knowing your taste preferences (you hate fruit - so strawberry is out)
Assuming Real Tracks aren't sufficient for type/style of music or you need MIDI flex the usual go to's are:
1. For GM either Coyote Forte or Cakewalks TTS-1
2. For more versatility and larger sample library's of bread and butter sounds: (and any one of these three are probably the 97+% solution for a lot of folks)
Native Instruments Kontakt, or
IK's SampleTank, or
Cakewalk's Dimension Pro or now Rapture Pro (Rapture Pro can replace Dimension Pro),
3. Beyond those depending on kind of music a more "specialized" set of sounds can be had with a Garritan program like Garritan Personal Orchestra or Garritan Jazz and Big Band, or IK's Miroslav Philharmonik.
then there are truly specialized (one kind) sounds drums Addictive Drums, eZdrums, BFD, ...; keys Addictive Keys, eZkeys, etc.
But there is also UVI Falcon, Spectra Sonics OmniSphere 2, AIR Structure 2, Steinberg HALion 5, Magix Independence Pro, East-West Quantum Leap, Vienna Symphonic Library, Reason,...
and countless free and paid-for analog, digital, FM operator, and otherwise unique/niche/specialized or "one trick ponies" synths.
EDIT FORGOT The above is all if you want to keep it all "in the box" there is a world of external HW synths (I use a LOT of those) - becasue I can make/record/sequence music and never turn PC on. good luck
Larry

Hi Larry,
To help clarify my question I will replace "recommendations" to "what is your favorite?".
I am aware of what vst synths, samplers are available.
Just trying to get an idea of what other songwriters/musicians prefer.
Thanks for the input:)
Cheers!

I use Kontakt in virtually every song. Kontakt comes with a lot of patches and there are tons of other patches both from NI and third parties. I believe that it is the most supported sampler available.
The bumper sticker said "I'm a veterinarian, therefore I can drive like an animal". Suddenly I realized how many proctologists are on the road.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

Hi MarioD
THANKS for your input. I will have to revisit Kontakt web site to see what they have to offer.

dga,
I'm not PG Music staff so I cannot answer with certainty but you should be ok. You're only running it on a single machine. You can easily check this by using Live Help during office hours. The Live Help link is found under Support at the top of the webpage (or Contact at the bottom of the webpage).

No, you definitely shouldn't have to purchase again. Do you still have the original distribution? You may have received it as a 7z file that will require a password to unzip.

I want to install it on my new computer, do I have to purchase a new copy? I'm not using the old computer as the HD died. Sorry, but that is a simple reason for regular backups. I don't care much if a hard disk dies. Yes it is a pita to reinstall what was there before. It is often time consuming. But, today's memory media are in a price range affordable for at least 95 percent of computer users. You just have to use it. My own procedure: On a weekly basis I do incremental backups using an external HD. A second external HD stores all downloads of software and their accompanying data, access codes for example -- just to make sure. I did have a HD failure years ago and after reinstalling the system the backup disk died also. My next step is to buy a new HD to clone the boot drive on a basis after new software is installed. (I do use models of the Seagate Backup Plus series.) Usually, PGMusic is very generously serving their customers.

dga, this probably should have its own thread, because it's not Sampletank related. However, my answer here: If you don't have a backup of the original, then I don't know. I do have backups: image, incremental, individual, multiple disks in rotation, onsite and offsite storage. But I'm paranoid. Everyone should expect a hard drive failure. They happen. Sorry to hear of your dilemma, but if you can provide evidence the original purchase someone hopefully might look after you. PGM will probably have a record. Worst case, $10 I think for jbridge. Good luck

Not only that PGMusic should have a record, if you had it installed on your previous hard disk, J ( https://jstuff.wordpress.com/) should also have a record, because he sent you the registration key. If you still have that key (find it in your emails?) you just need to download the relevant version and activate it.

If you still have that key (find it in your emails?) you just need to download the relevant version and activate it. Just so there is no confusion. Assuming you previously registered jbridge, then it's not just a matter of just downloading the latest version, as that is just the demo version. On the jbridge page, in the list on the right, will be links for updates (you can choose either the latest stable version or the latest beta version). Once you get to the updates page, you just need to enter your registered email address and you will be sent the latest version of jbridge. The file you receive will come as a 7zip file, so you will need either WinZip or 7zip (which is free) to extract it. The extracted file will be a zip file, so again you need either WinZip, 7zip, or Windows 7 and above to extract it. You will then have the install program which you can run (I suggest running it as administrator). This install program is your personal installer, so you won't need to worry about entering codes. Hope this helps.

And yes, there is no further activation.
