Two days ago this article appeared debunking a rumor that was circulating on social media that The Artist Formerly known as Prince had died. The story cites a Facebook post that claimed Prince had died on the morning of April 19th. The story was a complete hoax; However, today there is this: Pop Music Super Star Prince is dead at 57 RIP Prince

He passed today. He had an emergency plane stop with flu symptoms a couple of days ago. RIP Prince.

RIP Prince.
I grew up with his music, movies and MTV Videos. He was a true musician and took on the record labels before many else did. He owns the rights to all of his music and was a true pioneer in that field.
Purple Rain is a great flick, even today. The music and dialogue was perfect, IMO. "That's not Lake Minnentonka!" - Prince.

Very sad and unexpected. I loved his work and had to miss his concert in Hong Kong as I had family visiting that night. Now I'll never see him live. Too young. RIP.

I saw that too! When I first heard or Prince's death, I googled for confirmation and also found posts from a few days earlier claiming his death was a hoax. Now I can no longer find those stories. And the post in your link is updated- no longer saying April 19 but corresponding with the April 21 date the major media began reporting his death. Why are they now gone- scrubbed? It's all quite odd, but your post shows I'm not the only one in the world who saw those posts from a few days before the major media began reporting he died. Someone must have saved them.

I imagine that the websites that posted the false information were too embarrassed to leave it up. You might try looking on the Wayback Machine to see if they archived that particular date for the website I cited.
