Hello, Anybody knows how to make BiaB 2015 displays chords as "Cdim7" or "C79"? It seems that BiaB displays only chords as "Cdim" or "C9". Note that it's not a question about how the chord will be played but how the fake sheet will be displayed/printed. Thanks in advance.

For Cdim7, go into "Display Options" and select the box "Treat dim chord as a diminished triad instead of Cdim7". You should now be able to enter both Dim and Dim7 chords that will display properly.
Additionally, it seems to me that a C79 is really a C9, since the 7 is included in a C9 chord, unless you meant a C7 with a flatted 9, in which case you would enter C7-9.

Yes, that C7(9) is a style from fakebooks of the 60s and 70s. C9 means the same thing; the dominant 7th is included. You'll also see C7(13) which can be C13 (the 9 and perhaps 11 are implied as included).
If this bothers you when keying in charts, and you want to create a keyboard shortcut, you can. But your main intent seems to be to duplicate the printed fakebook style, and you would need a notation program for that. Even so, some of them can't print it with the 7 and 9 vertical.
As far as the Dim / Dim7, that is a direct result of PG Music responding to the Wishlist to give us the option John described. It was a happy day.

Thanks for your help.
The "Treat dim chord as a diminished triad instead of Cdim7" option works perfectly: if I enter Cdim7, BiaB now displays Cdim7 !
About C7(9) I don't completely agree that the C9 chord necessarily includes the 7th: in some cases, I find preferable to exclude the 7th from the chord, and in this cases the C9 is appropriate; that's why I find preferable to have the C7(9) in the other cases.
As you guessed, my intent is to duplicate printed fake sheets, in order to ease transpositions for other instruments. It seems that I have to find another software for that specific purpose ... unless PG Music hears my request and includes an option to display C7(9) !
Thanks again.

Forgetting BIAB for a second, it's a better system if you are able to specify what you don't want. I agree one might not play a seventh in a ninth chord, but likewise one might leave out the fifth, or even the root if there is a bass. Leaving out the third is common too. When I write something like this, I actually write "No 3rd" or similar.
I won't venture into what might be convention anywhere else, but in American jazz, whatever extension you put on a triad is assumed to possibly include all extensions below it. 9th includes dominant 7; 11th includes dominant 7 & major 9; and 13th includes dominant 7, major 9 and often perfect 11.

Also...
If you want to simply add a major 9th without a 7th, I've seen this sometimes notated as Xadd9 (X = chord). In BIAB, to obtain this, X2 usually does the job.

Matt, These chords have been this way since the days of J.S. Bach and his figured bass approach to harmony. They've been a long time in the making. Noel
