I seem to have two issues..here goes. I would like to be able to drag and drop tracks from BB to my DAW ( Sonar ) and have them in the Midi format.

1) when I try to save in Midi, all I end up with seems to be the drum track. I would like all tracks to be in Midi. What may I be doing wrong?

2) in BB 2012 it was possible to drag and drop a track from BB to my DAW and the track was in Midi. I have tried the same with BB 2016. The tracks are transfered but they are in wave format.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank's

These are the settings that I use in the plug in options:

Are your settings the same?

I always had the settings that Mario is showing above, but I just went to double-check and my second check-box was checked. I don't even use VSTi or DXi for MIDI, as I have a hardware MIDI synth.

The point is, perhaps an update along the way changed this setting.

Thank you Mario.
I was able, as per your instructions, to send the track to Sonar in midi.
However the sound I get, on the bass track for example, is more of a piano sound than that of a bass.
Should I get my bass sound from Sonar or is there a way of keeping the BB bass sound?
I also get the same with a guitar track.

Thank's again Mario, you are a great help.
Regards

Gerry

Gerry, you have to select the sound source in SONAR just like you would in BIAB. The patch info doesn't transfer with the MIDI track.

What are you using for MIDI? If it's a hardware MIDI synth, I may be able to help you with a .INS file needed. If it's a software synth, I'm sure others can help.

Ok, good. You asked if you can get the bass sound etc. from BIAB in SONAR. To answer that, we also need to know what sound source for MIDI you are using in BIAB.

Ok, you have an adventure awaiting you.

When you bring up Preferences, MIDI Devices (or something like that), tell us exactly what that dialog box says for MIDI Output. Also tell us if the VSTi/DXi box is checked, and if it is, what software synth over on the left is loaded.

From this message I am going to assume that you are using the GM instruments that came with BiaB. If you are using something else then just discard the rest of this message.

BiaB comes with an inexpensive GM (General MIDI) MIDI sound source that sounds ok for laying out your songs. But when you compare these sounds with more expensive better sounds like what is in Sonar, Kontakt, SampleTank 2 and 3, etc then they don't sound so good. What I do is to map out my song in BiaB using the included sounds then I bring the MIDI tracks over to Sonar. I then use the much better sounds, IMHO, for those tracks.

If you want to stay with GM then use Sonar's TTS-1 matching the TTS-1 MIDI channels to BiaB's MIDI channels.

I very seldom use GM. I will pick a sound from one of my sound sources. Again I have to match MIDI channels between Sonar and my sound source.

If you need help feel free to ask.

PS - I will not be available from tomorrow until the following Monday.

Thank you Mario. I have basically done what you say: BB midi to Sonar and then use the Sonar sound source. It worked OK for the bass sound, except that when I compare the BB midi piano roll to the Sonar piano roll there are some differences. However these can be fixes in Sonar to reflect the same as the BB original.
The problem that has crept up though is that I tried to do the same with an acoustic guitar part. When it is transfered to Sonar, I end up with a single continuous note in midi. Could this be a problem with the instrument, because I used the exact same process as with the bass.

Thank you.

Hi Matt. My midi output driver shows the following: microsoft midi mapper and microsoft GS wavetable synth.
The VSTI/DXI box is checked and on the left hand side is the Midi output driver box that shows what I indicated above.

Thank you
