My iPhone and iPad are indispensable music tools.

Does anyone know of a virus scanner for iPhones / iPads?

While viewing CNN today on my iPhone, I hit what I'm sure is a scam saying Apple thinks a site is dangerous. Google says it's a hoax. Nevertheless, that led me to look for a program like Malwarebytes to scan my phone, and surprisingly there doesn't seem to be anything.

The closest I could find was a free one-week trial of Trend Micro Mobile that checks websites before visiting, or rates them during the visit. I was thinking there might be something that would work through iTunes and scan all files on all devices in the way Malwarebytes does.

Anybody have tips about this subject?

Thanks.

FWIW, my approach to my iPad, iPhone and iMac is simply to NEVER click on a link I don't recognize. Nothing will totally protect you from spam or scam sites even running IOS and OS. But with rare exceptions they all rely on the user downloading malware via links. Likely that site, had you proceeded, would have wanted you to download some application that would have no way of getting on your device other than you following the ensuing instructions.

Thanks, Bud. I expected someone would give me a caution to watch where I click.

I've been programming websites since 1994 when it became possible for the public to do so. It's now far worse than just clicking on a link. Anything moused-over on the screen can be a drive-by app taking you somewhere, or more maliciously, loading something surreptitiously. Some of these otherwise-worthy aggregator sites like CNN have become so clogged with visible or invisible ads etc. that they are almost unusable. The question is, how much can they affect an iOS device?

I just thought someone here might know of an iOS virus checker. It may not exist yet, though.

Yep. That's why I feel completely secure (not).

In case it isn't obvious from my profile, I live in IBM country. I've sold to IBM, taught at IBM, and taught on IBM computers from PCs to mainframes. Apple is a bad word around here. I use iOS devices happily anyway!

I'm not affected, I don't have iProducts.

Nevertheless I looked around and the only thing besides "iOS is safe, except for very, very few that can manage to work around Apple's security scheme." and dangers succeeding a jailbreak installation there is this one:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/virusdetector-check-emails/id978973833?mt=8

But as I implicitly said, I cannot test it.
