I am still running BiaB 2013 on Windows XP and almost exclusively use RealTracks in all of my songs. But I do occasionally key in a particular bass, piano or string phrase onto an unused track, e.g., melody or soloist, and then use a MIDI voice to play that phrase. I am in the process of getting off of Roland's VCS DXi so that I can move to Win 7 or 10. As I go through each song that has some MIDI in it, I try first to use one of the HI-Q MIDI Synth patches from the free SampleTank that is included in BiaB, So far I've been pretty successful and I like the sounds of most of the ones I've used. However, today, I was surprised when SampleTank's acoustic piano would not play a 6-note chord that I had in the song. So, I did some experimenting and found that the maximum number of notes the SampleTank piano voice would play was 4. Has anybody else experienced this?

yep! maybe a more experienced user can offer some work around. But, looks like either the max is 4 in the free product or there is some sort of limitation in BIAB implementation.

i do hope its not a BIAB limiation likely its with sampletank.
its a shame there is not an update patch or thingy to add easy to load High quality presets for the "full version" of sampletank 2 and or sampletank 3. oh well.

its a shame there is not an update patch or thingy to add easy to load High quality presets for the "full version" of sampletank 2 and or sampletank 3. oh well. Don't think its a limit for BIAB, but, like I said maybe a more experienced Keyboard player/BIAB user can chime in. I hear 4 notes, never more.

How many notes do you hear when you try this in RealBand?

I may be wrong but when one looks at the piano roll of a piano part there is a max of 4 parts. If the style has a piano with more 4 notes then there are two or more piano tracks.
I know for a fact that the free version of Sampletank that comes with BiaB will play more than 4 notes when I use it in Sonar as we have had 6 notes playing in some of our songs.
I don't know how many notes are played when using the thru channel in BiaB or in RB as I do all of my work in Sonar. I use BiaB as a scratch pad to flush out a chord progression and maybe a solo then transfer everything into Sonar. I work mostly with MIDI for my projects.
You may want to investigate how many notes play in RB.
PS - I mostly use RTs for others' projects.

The FULL version of ST2 installs the DXi as well as the VSTi and standalone versions, since by default BIAB and the PG supplied HI-Q instruments, call up the DXi - the FULL ST2 DOES WORK with HI-Q (you need to make sure you install the DXi) I forget how but there is a way to make BIAB use the VSTi as well for HI-Q (not hard just forget how right now) ALSO ST3 CS has a LOT OF SOUNDS NOW (but it's 64 bit only you didn't mention your OS) you may find as good or BETTER sounds. How many notes do you hear when you try this in RealBand? I always choose to use a RealTrack Piano due to the limit I hear using SampleTank in BIAB. Well that doesn't help to corner the error. I have tried it now with SampleTank 2.5 and the 1920 Upright Piano. I hear all 6 tones.
