Hey folks,
In BIAB 2015 when you chose a new style, it would
automatically be generated and would start playing the song as soon as the audio had been calculated. In BIAB 2016 it does not start generating the audio and instead just waits for the user to press play.
When you realize/remember that it is not doing anything and press PLAY, only then does it begin generating the audio and you have to wait some more. I liked the fact that it got down to business before. There is no reason for it wait to generate the song unless the tracks are all frozen and it can't do anything anyway.
I brought this up with support and was told that this is the intended new behavior and that I should mention it here if I have an issue with it.
I'd like to point out that this new behavior seems illogical. I don't mind so much that it doesn't play the song automatically (although I miss that part too) but I don't see the point in BIAB failing to generate the song after "OK" selecting a style, because the user's only option for listening to the song in the new style is to press Play, and BIAB shouldn't be waiting until the user presses Play to begin it's calculations and sit idle beforehand. What if I want to run to the kitchen or bathroom after OKaying a style and want to hear it start as soon as its ready? At the very least I want the song to be generated and all ready to play as soon as I return.
This was working nicely in BIAB 2015, so this change feels more like a bug rather than a deliberate change.
If there is a reason why this behavior was deliberately changed, is it possible to include a checkbox in the preferences to allow the user to decide whether or not to "
Generate Styles immediately". And by the same token there should be a checkbox to "
Play newly Selected Style automatically".
I would love to see this fixed (or the option added) in the next build.
