Is there some easy way that I can cycle through all the sounds on the software synths and hear them, perhaps playing them from my MIDI keyboard? Is there a way to audition them from within BIAB? Or do I use something external like Cubase to do it? Are the BIAB files in the "Synth Kit" directory, such as Edirol SD-80.dk compatible with programs like Cubase? Should I read or watch some tutorial?
For instance, right now I'm trying to find a synth sound like the bass part in "Take My Breath Away" from Top Gun. I'm sure it's in here somewhere. Thanks.

Bruce,
BIAB does not contain any software synths. It is a general midi program, and on a Mac, the midi parts are played using the default Quicktime general midi sounds. Now if you have some other software synths on your computer (I've got Logic, and it contains a boatload of them), BIAB does not use those. I suspect Cubase also has lots of software synths, and I would think you would need to access those from within Cubase. Now if you "drag and drop" your BIAB creation into Cubase, you should then be able to use any of Cubase's software synths to play any of the midi parts in the BIAB song. There may be some way to use those other software synths from within BIAB, but I don't know how to do it. Maybe some more advanced user than me will step in here...

Grab the freeware SimpleSynth. It actually includes the very same sound set that Mac built-in Quicktime sounds are using, but you can easily find loads of far better GM compatible soundfont banks online for it to use instead. You can then use your external midi keyboard (provided you got one) as input device to test the sounds. You could then take this a step further if you want to and make SimpleSynth be the sound output device for BBox (not the Realtracks, of course, just the midi), instead of using the Built-in DLS option in BBox. Just be advised, if you do that, the 'render to audio' will still only use the Built-in set. And now I'll shut up before I confuse you even more...if I'm not too late already
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BBox 2022 Audiophile, Mac Pro Intel, OSX 10.6.8, 800x600 (TV VGA)
