Is there a way to generate minor sales using the "generate scales" feature under the soloist-scales menu tab? I've been able to generate major scales by placing a major chord in the measure but it doesn't create a minor scale when a minor chord is used.

Is there a way to generate minor sales using the "generate scales" feature under the soloist-scales menu tab? I've been able to generate major scales by placing a major chord in the measure but it doesn't create a minor scale when a minor chord is used. WPowers, welcome to the forums. The scales should be generated in the key signatures of whatever Chords you have placed on the Chord-Chart. Is that not happening? What version of BiaB are you using? Trev

I'm using 2016. If I'm in the key of C and I place a different major triad chord every other bar, I get the corresponding major scale for each chord (1st bar ascending, and the 2nd bar descending). If I do the same thing using minor triad chords I don't get minor scales.
I thought I had found an easy way to generate scales to practice playing along with rather than typing in the scale notes on the staff.
I can't find anything in the manual or training videos that explain how the scale feature works.

I'm wondering if this will help. Change the key from <ie> C to Am (relative minor of C).

What style(s) and soloist are you using? I did a test run to test your issue. I used Medium Pop Ballad, filesname "*_MDBALC" . I tried C major for two bars, F major for two bars, then Cm two bars and Fm two bars. Used Guitar, Electric, Soloist PopModernGrooveGritty Ev16 075. BIAB made the changes to minor progression fine three choruses through.
What if you found a soloist that doesn't do minor scales?

It worked just fine at my end generating ascending and descending scale pattern.
Now, if PG Music could just find a way to make this handy feature do folded scale patterns in various combinations like ascending and descending 2nd's, 3rd or 4th's using scales other then Major and Minor that would be an absolutely invaluable learning tool. Can you imagine being able to practice your Pentatonic and Blues scales using BIAB!

WPowers: I would not bother with these two:
• Guitar Speed Trainer (GuitarSpeed.com)
• 100 Chords Method (GuitarChordsMethod.com)
I can easily recommend these:
• Absolute Fretboard Trainer (AbsoluteFretboard.com)
• Guitar & Bass Ear Trainer (ByEar.com)
• Guitar Scales Method (GuitarScalesMethod.com)
Once you've done the above 3, the very best part is the "My Drills" where you can create your own drills. PS: you don't have to concern yourself with number of beats per bar (as an example). I've really enjoyed the flexibility of the app(s) over a number of years. Updates are always free. You pay just once.
