If you used install or decompress.exe you should still have the original wma - if not you will have to batch encode them.
If it's an Audiophile drive you will loose the quality - you can copy all the files but wav files to another drive using a copy application like FastCopy, just Exclude *.wav
.

Hi Pipeline

Err, I don't have the original WMA files anymore... I would have to reinstall all the real tracks from scratch?

rallypally,

What version of BIAB do you have? Is it 2016? Also is it the Audiophile edition?

Regards,
Noel

Not sure I understand why you only have WAV files. Did you convert all the WMA's to WAV (which doesn't give you better audio) and then delete the WMA's?

And again, which version? 2013 ProPak, 2013 UltraplusPak, 2013 EverythingPak, 2013 Audiophile?

You mentioned re-installing. Do you have an external USB drive with BIAB on it. Or have you only done the PlusPak upgrades that give you just the latest?

Again, unless you started with the Audiophile edition, I'm not sure why you only have WAV files. Short of loading a tiny bit faster than the WMA's (and on a fast computer, I really mean a tiny bit faster), the WMA files are fine.

Help us understand, although it sounds to me like a re-install may be in order. If you have your original installation media, that would be a lot faster than trying to take WAV files (presumably) previously converted from WMA and convert them back to WMA (which would incur more audio fidelity loss.

Let us know.

Well, i did delete them..oops!

I'm running BB on a Fujitsu U1010 UMPC (800mHZ CPU)...so having WAV files speeded up the generation..thats the only reason I deleted them

but I do hope to get a faster windows machine, but the HDD will be smaller, so I would need to have in WMA format again to save space

Which package do you have and do you have your original installation media? From what you've described, I would think that reinstalling would be the easiest way to get your files back. Or if you have the external USB drive, just run from that.

If you are getting a faster Windows machine, why would you have a smaller HDD? Even if it were, you could get a machine with USB3 and use a USB3 external drive for your RT's/RD's. Lots of folks are getting acceptable performance with the external drive running on a USB2 port.

I have to assume that the answer to John's repeated question is that you do not have the audiophile version, or you would have said so by now.

That means, sometime ago, you ran the utility from within BIAB to uncompress your WMA files into WAV files. Doing so, however, made no difference in the sound. At one time years ago, doing this improved the speed of regeneration a bit (never more than, say, 20%) but now less so. Thus, you would gain almost nothing from working with WAV files on your new machine with a smaller hard drive. Find the original WMA files from your original PG Music drive and use those.

Since you mention a space problem, there are things you can do. I do not load all the RealTracks onto my internal drive, because it's an SSD of limited size, much like the tablet you will be getting. Instead, I manually copy only those RealTrack folders I know I need. If I ever need other RealTracks, I know I can go back to the original drive and find them. One other thing: you must copy all the .ST2 and .XT2 files in the main /BB folder, since you can't identify which go with which RealTracks.

Or, just run BIAB from the external drive after doing the minimum setup option.
