I have already posted this in a couple of other places more appropriate like Kontakt (NI) but I haven't had any response yet, so I thought I'd try here... Ok I am pretty green when it comes to all the technical stuff for VST’s etc, and so I’d like to describe the problem I’m having and see if anyone can help as it seems like it's probably something very obvious to someone that knows what they are doing...  I am using the Accordion sound from the World sounds (I believe, as I’m at work not home) and using Jam Origins Midi Guitar software to trigger it. I do not believe that this is a cause of the problem as when I use my Axiom 61 KB I get the same effect, but I wanted to give all the info. So what is happening is that when I play and hold the notes play fine, however there is NO decay of the notes, until they stop…no trail off as a natural sounding instrument would have. So it’s making the playing of certain pieces and styles difficult. I have gone in and played with every setting in the Envelope and other areas I can find, with little or no effective change. So I had to record my part and go into the Midi editor of my DAW (Samplitude Pro) and manually set the volume levels and create a fade for certain parts that I wanted. However I find it hard to believe that this is not possible in the VST itself, so any assistance would be appreciated. Also note this is not the only instrument that seems to have this problem, even some of the default ones in my DAW did this too...So I suspect it's some sort of global setting, BUT not knowing enough about all this stuff, I wouldn't know where to begin to look. Tony, I don't know if this is the issue... The decay (if any) on an accordion sound is very, very short. This is how the instrument works. As soon as the accordionist takes his fingers off the note(s), the air stops blowing through the reed and the sounds stops pretty much instantaneously. To test this out, try loading an instrument that has a naturally long decay (like vibraphone) and see if the problem persists. Regards, Noel

I agree. I grew up playing accordion and it doesn't have any decay it's on or off like a harpsichord or organ. Lots of other instruments don't decay either like all the horns for example. A horn player can control volume by his breathing but a sax, trumpet whatever has no natural decay like a stringed instrument does.
Tony, now that I mentioned volume is that what you're referring to? When you say decay we take it to mean holding a chord on a piano or guitar and letting it ring out. When you do that the sound naturally sustains and also fades out. That's decay. Volume is a different thing. With midi volume is controlled by controllers like CC7 for volume or CC11 for expression.

If you've not solved your issue yet
Is your DAW MAYBE sending a CC64 or CC66 (aka HOLD/sustain or Sustenuto) or do you have external gear hooked up and on while doing DAW work that MIGHT be sending a pedal Hold (CC64) and it's getting routed into DAW and right back out to Konatak?
