Hi
Total BIAB newbie here -
I'm trying to generate a backing track for Yardbird Suite for my alto sax takenfrom the Charlie Parker Omnibook. The book is already in Eb.
When I enter the chords they are in the wrong key if I specify Eb in the chord selection box on BIAB.
If I import the track into BIAB it says the key detected is C.
Confused i am?
Help/enlightenment greatly appreciated

Well....
I'm no expert and it's not clear to me in your post.
Just below the song title is the style description field.
Note the buttons to the right of the style description...one of them is KEY.
Click that button, change to the desired KEY then input your chords.
Maybe that will be it....maybe not.
It you are a "total newbie" I'd recommend viewing all the tutorials.
This program is deeper than the Mariana Trench.

Welcome to the forum.
The best advice I can give other horn players of transposing instruments is, always convert to concert pitch.
Having said that, here's the easy fix:
Assuming you entered the song directly from the Eb Facebook, and assuming you did not enter a key signature in BIAB (so it still says key of C), then change the key to A. This will drop the pitch so it will be right when you play your fakebook. To do this, click on the Key button and use the left-hand column to select A. Why? An alto is pitched a minor third above concert, so dropping to A drops the alto music a minor third to compensate. When you selected Eb, you went the wrong direction.
The music on the BIAB screen will be in the wrong key for your alto, so if you want to read from the screen, you can then transpose the notation. This time, you do NOT use the Key button, but instead use Preferences, Notation. Select alto sax from the pull-down Transpose menu there. Remember this is in effect and return it to normal (concert pitch) when you're done.
