Marvellous work David. I wish I had been on that trip to Amsterdam  Great imagery in the lyrics and very Dylanesque delivery. Shades of Lennon in the song vibe. Great story by the way. Is it true? Loved it. Rec

Thanks Rec. Well, let's just say it is a composite.  An artist is not supposed to talk too much about his work. Ask Bob. Fun fact. A reporter once interviewed Dylan in Paris. She was warned never to speak again once she had asked him a question or he would get up and leave. He didn't like to be interrupted while he was thinking. So she asked him what he thought the definition of freedom was. He didn't say anything for about a half an hour, while he smoked some cigarettes. Then, he said: "Freedom is a lot like peace of mind. You don't know what it is until you don't have it anymore." "Yeaaaaaah." Gotta love Bob.

this definitely leans towards Dylan and after the 1st listen the song took a long while to fade from my mind, as it got stuck in a loop, in a good way!

There's definitely no stopping you! Your songwriting is incredibly diverse. It seems to me that you fearlessly tackle any topic that springs to mind. From my perspective, such an approach to songwriting is probably one of the best approaches possible.
