Hi folks, there is always a lot of discussion here, of course, about different applications, computers, monitors, etc. I think it might be of general interest to know what you are using...or at least what you spend the most time with. Soooo...I'll kick it off. Equipment: - 2011 Mac: 32g RAM macOS Sierra (waiting on late 2016 release for replacement) - Mics: Rodes NT1 and lesser used MXL - Interface: Focus Rite Scarlett 212 (mics to Logic) - Monitors: KRK Rokit 5 Software (DAW, effects, etc): - 2016 Mac Audiophile BiaB - DAW: Logic Pro X - mixing, apple effects, apple loops and occasional piano midi sounds (BiaB super midi tracks) - Izotope Ozone 7 Advanced via Logic: mastering and individual track effects, etc. - Izotope Nectar 2 via Logic: Vocals and I use the EMT Plate sim module for general reverb use - Izotope Alloy 2 via Logic: Instrumental tracks - Waves multi-band compressor via Logic - Waves Truverb via Logic Ears: Mostly Janice's They still work well. That's it for us. Bud

Steve, have you worked with Neutron long enough to offer an opinion?
Thanks,

I got it at a good price since I was an Ozone7 Advanced user. Login to your Izotope account to see the price discount. The big feature that really impresses me is comparing tracks for overlapping frequencies. You can see the conflicts and adjust one of them while it's playing to get it out of the way of the other. A really good video here on the features through Sweetwater: iZotope Neutron Plug-in Demo

I have a custom built quad core computer. Intel i5 chip with XP Pro 32 Mackie MR-5 monitors and a Polk audio 10" 100w sub. Focusrite Saffire interface
Rode NT-2A mic
POD2 guitar processor and Mesa Boogie Studio 22 for guitars
Sonar X1 DAW software using Cakewalk plugins, Ozone, Melodyne Editor.
Not much stuff really.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

This is definitely my most-used piece of music equipment: Amen! I asked Siri the other day if she drank coffee and the reply was "Bud, with enough coffee and chocolate I could rule the world."

Neuton is good bang for the buck I bought it also , you get a lot of plugs for the money.
I had many great versions of individual plugs I loveto begin with, as to what that neutron provides , but after demoing neutron I decided to buy it just for the track assistant , which i will use on mixes when I am pressed for time with to quickly auto dial in a rough starting point.
It's a dilemma though as I already have other plugs that I like and love vs. those contained within neutron .., but like I said , it has the ability to shave a couple of hours of mixing time at the beginning of a mix when installed as a first plug in in the chain. The thing I dont like is if you decide to use these mix guesses as a starting point, I always keep saying to myself .., "but id like the flavor of XYZ plugin for here etc" , that why I said I will use it only as a quick starting point if I am pushed for time.
The masking meter is convenient but nothing new there . I already have 2 dedicated multiband spectrum analysers (nugen audio and melda) that do a clearer job of identifying clashing frequencies than what neutron does , even my fabfilter proQ2 eq will show that ,.., but having it in the same neutron package (that also uses low cpu power ) is handy.
If you are starting out though I cant recommend neutron enough as you get a lot of great plugins for the price of one. If you dont have a clue how to mix , it would be great for you also as the track assistant can get you to the place in your mix that would have taken you a few years to figure out otherwise, even if it is a rough ballpark summary, and if you are wise you will then study what neutrino selected and try to learn from it rather than just moving on to the next track on auto pilot .
For the guys who are plugin sluts like me, you'll already have good plugs that have whats in nutrino, therefore you don't need neutrino unless like me sometimes you might occasionally want track assistant to shave some time off , or just want to see out of interest where it takes you, or your lazy,
.., or that garage band says we only have about $50.00 in the budget for the mix, then maybe instead of rejecting the offer, I could imagine seeing track assist used in that spare one hours worth of allocated mix time (without tweaking a single parameter) then adjust faders again before you declare the mix done, get your fitty so you can slip off to the bar for a few with the lads haha, and it would also be usefull when you boss is screaming wheres that mix (hey post guys) LOL. :p

Melodyne Editor. Nice Herb. Forgot Melodyne on mine too and my processors. Added to my original post. EVGA GTX 970 Video Card, Dual Intel Xeon 3.16 GHz Quad Core Processors (8 cores total) Those extra cores really help on processing wav files.

A really good video here on the features through Sweetwater: iZotope Neutron Plug-in Demo Thanks Steve. The deal is good...but the only module that interests me is the track comparison. I've downloaded the demo and will work with that module. It alone may be worth the cost of admission. Although my productions are sparse I can always use help in preventing tracks from stepping on one another.
