That's the name of my first song using the Real Steel and a Dire guitar track from Mac 2009 to which I added to BIAB midi drums and bass. I recorded acoustic rhythm and lead guitar tracks on a Guild F50. And a VG8 tele track is in the mix too. Tried to mix it all together and hope the result is pleasing. Wrote this song last winter and used the same vocal I did then as I don't have time to redo the vocal. Anyway I'd love to hear what you think of it. Fun song. I like what you have done with you vocal. Did you record two takes and pan one off to the side? I'd keep working on it. Sounds like your'e not used to singing it yet. Manybe it would sound better in the chorus with just two "troubles". Three times sounds like it's too much. I think the song has potential.

Hi Ed,
I'm glad it gave you a chuckle. Yes, I doubled the vocal, really just copied the track and used a different reverb and eq and panned them about 15 degrees left and right of center, that seemed to bring the vocal where I wanted it in front of the tracks volume wise , but didn't push the master volume into the red. In fact, I got a pretty big sound on the master with plenty of spare overhead for the most part, I thought. I think a pro singer good pull this one off - I guess the line could go - " Trouble, oh, trouble" - not a bad idea and then I'd title it "Virtual Sin". The song runs 3:22 so it could go a tad slower if needed.

Pete, “Trouble Trouble Trouble “ is really Good Good Good!
Super mix. I loved the lyrics!
This is a keeper.

Hi Powderman,
Thanks, that Real Steel track really seemed to pull the mix together. I just had to ride the fader like a steel player might ride his volume pedal to get it to fit in right.

Nice song Pete, it has some funny lines, and some cool playing. A couple things i noticed, that i always struggle with in music and lyrics writing. First, It seems that in some of the lines there had just too many words and they needed to be rushed to fit them in, I sometimes do this as well, and going back over and listening with an ear to making each phrase a bit less wordy really helps at times, giving the song a very smooth cadence. Secondly the song seems to be in the wrong key for your voice, you fight just a bit to do the lower notes, this causes a bit of pitchiness. Bring it up a tiny bit, one or two steps would allow you to stay in your better register. These two things can usually give the song a bit more of a dynamic feel.

Hi Mario,
Thanks Mario, I heard a real life story along these lines recently and it made me want to revisit this one. Need to redo the vocal but it's hard to find the time. That's the problem with being retired,-you never get a day off! I'm really liking the new Mac 2009 update and have several projects lined up for reworks. Also updated to Digital Performer 6 - wow - these programs just keep getting better and better.

Hi Rob, Thanks for taking the time to critique my tune. I totally agree that it good to pare your lines down to as few syllables as possible. I usually do that exercise on my lyrics but if/when I get to redo the vocal I'll keep your ideas in mind. Not sure I'd want to change the key if that meant redoing the guitar tracks. But I might be able to digitally move them up a couple of intervals and still sound good. The other option is to do the vocal in the early morning when the voice is naturally lower. Also just to practice it more. There's a new track comp feature on Digital Performer I was wanting to try on this but didn't find the time so I went with my original vocal on this mix.

I know what you mean on the guitar thing, i hate to retrack when it means changing keys. Especially when i nail one (does not happen often!!!)
On the thought of lyrics, i try to let the beats per measure give a basic structure to the syllables, leaving a few empty for the mind to attach to the words, to busy and one loses the thought.
Wow you can sing early in the morning, man i need to much warmup time!
Keep up the good work! man this stuff is fun! rob
