Hello everyone...

I searched for this type of problem, but couldn't find it.

Here's the scenario: I'm trying to Drag N Drop individual wav files from a bluegrass style (actually several styles, but they all do the same thing). This style has no drums, so the mandolin takes the #3 spot instead.

Everything plays fine and sounds great. But when I use Drag N Drop to produce wav files for my DAW, each time it will only hesitate briefly at the mandolin before ignoring it and going on to the next instrument.

I've tried 4 different bluegrass styles with mandolin, and they are always in #3 spot and never, ever render to wav with Drag N Drop.

Any ideas? I suspect a directory path or something, but they all PLAY fine. Do I need to somehow change the drum directories to include all other instruments? Seems kinda strange to have to do that.

Appreciate any help or direction you can give.

Thanks!

Jim

Sounds like a corrupted Wav file to me.

They're Realtracks styles with a mandolin. I've tried several different bluegrass styles that use mandolin, but they are DIFFERENT mandolin voicings, or styles in each one. Some are a rhythm "chop" and others are a mandolin solo. The only thing in common is that it's a mandolin instrument sound and it's in the position normally occupied by the drums.

When I get time I'll look and see if I can find another style with some other instrument in that position. If it happens on that one, too... then I'll be convinced it has something to do with the path.

So, I doubt that it's a corrupt wav file. If it had only been one out of 4 or 5, that would make sense.

But I do thank you for your input!

Jim

OK, well this is embarrassing... but I found the problem.

For some reason BIAB didn't prompt me in any way when I was making the d n d wavs for my DAW. But THIS time, with a new song and a different bluegrass style, it did prompt me. It told me I had to enable DXi/VSTi in my MIDI settings. Huh.

Why didn't it need that setting changed for the other instruments? Got me. Must still have something to do with the mandolin being in the drum position.

But anyway, it's working fine now.

Thanks to any and all that wondered what the heck I was talking about. I appreciate it.

Jim

Jim, a couple of things.

Firstly, thanks for posting how and that you got it resolved, this can help others.

Secondly, I wonder if this is worth reporting to PG Music Support. If it's some kind of operational issue that needs to be resolved, then they'd probably appreciate knowing.

Thanks again for the feedback

Trevor

Pulling it out from the cobwebs now, but it seems there was a time where you had to have a DXi/VSTi synth loaded to be able to work properly with RealTracks, but then they removed that requirement. I wonder if something was missed on the drum track (which generally was reserved only for drums) when they enabled the ability to put a non-drums RealTrack on the drum track (originally you couldn't do that).

So, yes, definitely report this to "support@pgmusic.com" and reference this thread.

Try using the render function and export the file.

I have never used the drag/drop in BB/RB.

I always use the export function for the waves in RB. And I rarely if ever export anything from BB. I always reopen the project in RB after creating it in BB. I generate the waves and export them one by one to my DAW.

A related problem I have on bg style with mandolin on the drum track: If I freeze the track, the next time it loads it doesn't play the track. I have to unfreeze the track and regenerate it which messes up any mandolin solo I like. However, I have never had any problem with drag and drop on that track.

Hi TLMelvin,

That's a known bug, which has been reported to the development team for a fix. For now, I'd recommend leaving that track unfrozen, or assigning that RealTrack to another track, like Melody or Soloist, and disabling the Drums track for that song.

In the future, it's always best to start a new thread for your each issue, in case it needs to be discussed in detail. smile

Thanks

Thank you to all of you for the support and encouragement. And to Kent for letting us know that it wasn't just my "geezerness" that caused the problem. Much appreciated, everyone!

Thanks also for the tip about using RealBand. I seldom utilize it, but I may have to change that. Especially if it makes dropping or rendering individual tracks easier.

I must say that Band In A Box has grown up to be practically indespensible to many of us. One thing I love to do is to mix tracks from several different styles into one song... like this one I'm working on... with a mandolin, fiddle, guitars, synth pad, and disco drums (yeah), etc. With my DAW I can then fade one voice in and another out to make what appears (to me) a very interesting combination of sounds that somehow work together.

Perhaps when I'm done with this project (if it turns out well), I'll post a link here to get your opinion of it.

Until then, thanks again to all the great people on this forum!
