I have read different things and got a different response from chatting with PG and the upgrade page is not that clear on this. Can someone from PG please officially confirm the following?

If I have 2016 UltraPlusPak already installed will the "2017 PlusPAK" (for $99) or the "UltraPlusPak Upgrade from 2016" (for $149) both get me to the EXACT SAME PLACE?

Someone here mentioned that a PG person named Will said you will miss out on some MIDI stuff if you only do the "2017 PlusPAK" upgrade.

BUT, someone from PG named Joseph told me both installations will be identical and the only difference is the more expensive option ships on a hard drive including files I already have.

Which one is it?

This is correct.

Will may have been referring to the bonus 49 Pak, which is a $49 add-on to either package. It has 24 additional RealTracks, 34 MIDI Supertracks, 54 undiscovered styles and more http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.bonuspaks_2017.htm

Thanks Peter. So, both the "2017 PlusPAK" (for $99) and the "UltraPlusPak Upgrade from 2016" (for $149) include 202 New Realtracks and 25+ New MIDI SuperTracks?

Because on this page, http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.ultra.htm , it shows 2016 UltraPlusPAK contains 150 MIDI SuperTracks but it shows 2017 UltraPlusPAK contains 175+ MIDI SuperTracks

And on this page, http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.htm , it shows that the "2017 PlusPAK" has no MIDI SuperTracks.

I am still confused because different pages seem to be saying different things.

JohnJohnJohn,

A number of the Supermidi Tracks come with the bonus 49 PAK ($49). As I understand it, that is an extra whatever version you choose to buy.

The link below gives a bit more information about the bonus paks.

Thanks Noel but the pages I referenced do not mention anything about the bonus 49 PAK.

Check this page, http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.ultra.htm , and you will see it says the 2017 UltraPlusPak Upgrade includes 175+ MIDI SuperTracks. And it also says the 2016 UltraPlusPak contains 150 MIDI SuperTracks. So, if that page is correct, the 2017 UltraPlusPak Upgrade includes 25+ NEW MIDI SuperTracks. But the "2017 PlusPAK" (for $99) specifically shows it contains no MIDI SuperTracks.

So, if I buy the $149 upgrade I will end up with 175+ MIDI SuperTracks but if I buy the $99 upgrade I will only have the 2016 count of 150 MIDI SuperTracks. Yet Peter said the upgrades included identical new components.

Still confused!

JohnJohnJohn,
I bought the PlusPak download for $99 and also the Bonus 49-Pak. Last year I bought the UltraPlusPak plus the bonus pack.

I just checked and I now have 203 SuperMIDI tracks which, going on a couple of other threads, appears to be the total available SuperMIDI tracks.

I would suggest you can believe Peter Gannon's advice.

I understand that if you buy the bonus 49 pak you'll get the additional MIDI SuperTracks! My question is what about when you don't buy that???

John,

I understand the confusion. It's not really clear.

I have everything that's available, and I also had everything last year. Like Richard, I have 203 midisuper tracks too. This suggests that the PlusPak and the $49 BonusPak will give you every Midisuper track.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks Noel...I just don't wanna buy the $99 upgrade only to find out I missed out on 25+ MIDI SuperTracks!

I just checked and it says I have 180 MIDI SuperTracks currently.

John,

You won't miss out, PG Music always look after customers. If you went for the $99 plus bonus pack, if it turned out not to be what you had hoped for, I'm pretty sure you'd be credited towards getting the USB drive. As I see it, it's a variation of PG Music's '30-day money back guarantee' policy. Because I'm not sales staff, though, I could be wrong. Why not ask them about it?

Regards,
Noel

Why is everything so damn confusing?

I bought the Everything pak earlier on in the year and this week bought the 49Pak and the XtraPaks 1 & 2
and the 2017 update, on the assumption that I would have everything.
Not the case, I am still missing RT's 254-277 .I haven't checked the MST's yet, so I could be missing those also.
I am considering using the 30 day guarantee and starting over once I have found out precisely what I need to get "everything".

From my side, I confirm:
1) the description of the different packs is not clear enough, specially for the guys who are "following" year after year and do not need to pay for things they already have...)... I, for inst., made a mistake and ordered a package without the new RTs which, of course, I wanted to have and
2) I confirm with pleasure, that, in discussion with PGs, this has been solved quickly...
So, just continuing to have fun! (the problem of the "missing" RTs (Surf?) will be
adressed later...

Ovation.
Yes, you should have everything. This assumes that you bought the "$99 BIAB 2017 PlusPak update (includes 202 Realtracks)" and not the "$49 BIAB 2017 update only (includes no new Realtracks)" . These are outlined on this page http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.htm

Most (30/34) of the new MIDI Supertracks are only contained in the Bonus 49-Pak . This is 34 MIDI Supertracks. The total number of MIDI Supertracks including every possible source is 203. So the Ultra has 203-34 = 169 MIDI Supertracks.

The list of the 34 MIDI Supertracks found in the bonus 49-Pak are here
http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.bonuspaks_2017.htm (Note that of that 34, four are also included in the free bonus pak with 2017, and the other 30 are unique to the 49-Pak)

Summary: getting the 2017 UltraPak* and Bonus 49-Pak gets you:
- all 203 MIDI SuperTracks that we have made.
- (It also gets you all the Realtracks and RealDrums that we have made.
- it gives you a huge number of Realstyles (thousands, I don't have that count handy),
- it doesn't get you the Xtra styles, which are about 300 Realstyles using existing RealTracks - those are sold separately as Xtra stylePak 1 and 2 ($49 for both, or $29 each during the special in December 2016.)

*2017UltraPlusPak, EverythingPak, 2017PlusPak or Audiophile, these are described and can be purchased here http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.htm

One solution to this annual round of questions and confusion might be to simply sell everything a-la-carte. Package it as a bunch of individual niche products with no overlap and let people decide what they want. They could buy 'em all and get everything, or just buy the packs they want.

A web store with all the legacy stuff that anybody might have skipped in past years could turn out to be a boon for everybody. New opportunities to sell old stuff. A way to appeal to special interest groups who complain about having to buy stuff they don't use.

and ultimately a lower entry price to get new customers who might otherwise have a hard time buying the whole shebang for almost $500

Or not. Just thinking out loud here.

Every year there is always confusion about what is included in each package and add-ons. I think PGMusic could easily stop this confusion by offering the following packages:
1-intro level - the programs(BiaB & RB) with a few RTs, RDs, MIDIsupertracks, and a few corresponding styles. Enough for beginners to get their feet wet.
2-MIDI upgrade - latest program with new MIDI, MIDIsupertracks and styles included.
3-RT/RD upgrade - same as #2 except only RTs and RDs.
4-Everything upgrade - #2+#3 combined, i.e. all new RTs,RDs, MIDIsupertracks and all styles
5-Everything Plus pack - all new program and every available RT, RD, SuperMIDItrack and styles
6+7+8- Audiofile versions of #3,#4 and #5

Note that I have used the word update on #2-#4.

Forget all the confusing add-ons and include them in the above packages, even if it increases the price.

They could sell individual RT sets, RD sets, MIDIsupertracks with the corresponding styles included for those that one missed or new ones they want.

All instructional programs could be sold separately and the video tutorials could be on line and downloadable.

YMMV but what do you think?

Many software vendors these days make more money from their "asset stores" than from their software. They tend to sell the software itself with a minimal set of assets to get people started...

then they package the media and other products that work with the software separately. This has a BUNCH of advantages for everybody:

1) people have a lower entry price

2) people can upgrade a little at a time, based on their specific needs

3) since more people can afford to buy in, the company's user based grows more quickly

4) more users buy more assets

5) the shelf life of assets is practically infinite, so once stuff is in the store it can be resold forever

6) currently the latest version of BIAB contains ALL the content from previous versions... man, NOBODY ELSE does that! Everybody else sells the current version, and if you want the legacy stuff, its in the store.

So, in summary, a marketing approach that echoes what many other content-based software producers are already doing would help everybody while making the purchase options much simpler.

Hi Peter,
OK, I think we are getting somewhere.

I purchased the BIAB upgrade from 2016 to 2017 = $49
and BIAB-Pro upgrade for 2017 = $59

Total = $108

Subsequent order of Xtra Pak 2 = $29

My question is now Peter, can I redeem the BIAB-Pro $59 and replace it with the Plus Pak for an additional $40, which will give me the missing RT's + ???. Am i reading this correctly?

Al
