SoundCloud: In My Heart

This original song uses an older BIAB STYLE that I like a lot. Nearly all of the tracks are MIDI, but have been updated with corresponding RTs from later iterations of BIAB. I kept the MIDI tracks that translated well into what I was trying to do and replaced others with RTs that I liked wherever possible.

This was a "challenge song"...someone bet me I couldn't write a hot love song...OK...it was a girl. grin Anyway, not being one to shy away from a challenge I put my heart into it and this is what came out. I suppose it's my tip-of-the-hat to Donna Summer; there are whispered lyrics here and there.

My vocals and lead guitar, a lush and lovely Fender Subsonic Telecaster, baritone electric.

Thanks for listening,
Bob

LYRICS:

In My Heart
© 2016 Bob Buford

Turn down the lights, turn down the bed
And I’ll be the pillow for your pretty head
It’s been too long since love had its way
Our life starts tonight and there’s so much to say

Fill that old bathtub; I’ll fill your glass of wine
Light all those candles, put your hand in mine
And lead me wherever you want me to be
Tonight and forever, I’ll be your fantasy

Chorus
I’ll kiss the corners of your lips, your pretty deep blue eyes
That give me those sweet looks, and make me realize
That what we’ve found is precious; we knew it from the start
‘Cause Baby, when you love me, I feel it in my heart

Bridge
Tell me your wishes and your heart’s desire
And I’ll never stop until your souls on fire
Call to me sweetly the way that you do
Look down and see how I love you

Verse
Sleep here beside me, let me hold you all night
And kiss you so softly, at first morning light
And tell you I love you, while the firelight dies
Reflecting tears of love in my eyes

Chorus
I’ll kiss the corners of your lips, your pretty deep blue eyes
That give me those sweet looks, and make me realize
That what we’ve found is precious; we knew it from the start
‘Cause Baby, when you love me, I feel it in my heart

Very nice Bob!! I really love the feel of this one. You've got a great style! Not sure if you realized your opening lines are the same as those from "I can't make you love me". I've inadvertently done the same thing before. Great tune! Take care. Greg

This is such a nice combination of a 90s ballad and a Next Big Thing- (Vince Gill) like country song.
Love the baritone and the guitar solo work. Professionally sung too.

Rob.

I love it, the guitar work on this made me tingle! And what a vocal. Oh, and the changes were a delight, especially the little pause before the vibrato guitar parts. You're a master of the hook!

John

Bob, great work! Vocal is top notch along with guitar work! But what I noticed was the care put into the background (strings)they really carried the song along. Thanks, Torrey

Yeah...Bonnie Rait got those from ME. Anyway, that's my story. grin I think I've heard those same lines in a Clapton song or something similar. Popular mood lines, apparently. LOL

Thanks for listening,
Bob

Thanks, Joe. We learned to do a lot with MIDI before there was RT in BIAB. Still works for a lot of tracks I think.

Thanks for listening,
Bob
