BIAB 2017 blurb states "improved stretching and transposition quality (Elastique 3)".
I was wondering if PG has any demos of the audio improvements that Elastique 3 offers over the older version.
For example, a number of RTs used in a song with various key and tempo changes done in BIAB pre Elastique 3 vs BIAB 2017.
I would be interested to know if the improvements are really that noticeable.
Failing that, have any 2017 users compared songs rendered in 2016 (or earlier) with those rendered in the 2017? Can you tell the difference?
I guess it would also depend on how much different from the original tempo and key of the RT you were shifting so it might be more noticeable at the extremes.
Cheers, Jez

It appears to me the audio sounds better in 2017 than earlier versions. Some of the difference may also be related to the instruments chosen for styles.
Whatever the reason, I'm very pleased with upgraded 2017.

Rec,
If I recall correctly, you have Reaper. That has elastique 3 and 2. Why not load a sound file in and try the different versions out

Noel, Thanks for reminding me! I hardly ever use Reaper now since going the Sonar route. Actually I regretted that recently when I bought iZotope MPB2 and had problems with Neutron in Sonar only to discover that Neutron is certified and tested in Reaper but not Sonar! Anyway, I digress... Following on from your suggestion I also found an interesting YouTube video comparing the difference between Elastique 2 and 3 in Reaper for drum tracks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8YAWl6v8xk It is certainly a noticeable improvement on drum tracks. I will try it for myself on some of the RT wma files. Thanks, Jez

Even then I don't think you're hear the full story because another blurb said they've remixed a lot of RT's to take better advantage of the new version of Elastique plus other reasons.
These new versions are like a multifunction equation where you change one thing and several other things change too. There are tons of things that go on behind the scenes that they don't spell out. I'm sure there are highly technical tweaks that don't lend themselves to a simple one line advertising blurb.

Is elastique 3 applied dynamically when a rt is generated in a style and played or is it applied in the creation of the rt? I would hope it is part of the BIAB software used at the time a style w/rts are played Wyndham

Judging from what I see there are two Elasticque DLL files in the Band in a Box directory now the original file "dllelastiquePro.dll" and version 3 "dllelastiquePro3.dll".
If you really wanted to do some testing you could generate a few songs as is then rename dllelastiquePro3.dll to dllelastiquePro3.dxx and copy dllelastiquePro.dll to dllelastiquePro3.dll then generate the same songs and see if you can tell the difference.
Then copy dllelastiquePro3.dxx back to dllelastiquePro3.dll to get you back to normal.

Bob Good points Bob. Also, there are different algorithmns within Elastique (Pro, Efficient or Solo) not to mention the sub-options all of which could make a big difference to the end result (see screenshots below). So it's probably better to compare results using BIAB 2017 vs earlier versions. Jez
