Lyrics

A Tribute To John Lennon

I Heard you on the radio the other day,While i was driving my car

I was singing along to a song a knew very well.

That song it took me back to my early years, made me stop and wonder why

As i sat there i was holding back the tears.

Chorus
Give him a message from me, Tell him to just let it be.

Imagine what he could have done still he will live on and on.

verse 2
Everytime i stop and think of you, and the day you passed away.

The feeling of loss i felt, No words can say.

People were crying in the streets, then i heard somebody say.

All that you wanted was to give peace a chance.

Chorus x2

Hope you enjoy Comments more than welcome..!

Colly, Great tribute! You reminded me how I felt so many years ago when I heard the awful news. But his musical legacy lives on through virtually all of us who post songs in this forum in some form or another whether we realize it or not! Thanks, 'Torrey

Really beautiful Colly.

A great tribute.

As an FYI, I used to live in the apartment building next to his and walked past the Imagine sidewalk sign in Central Park everyday on my way to work.

Such a loss.

Thank you for this song.

Beautiful tribute. He was one of my favorites. His loss still bothers me. Excellent vocal and lyric

Yes Colly. I lived in an apartment building next door to where John Lennon lived and was shot and walked past the exact spot where he was shot every day.

I also had to cross over the Imagine sign in the sidewalk in Central Park every day as well on my way to work. I usually saw Yoko Ono walking her dog every day as well.

I am a huge Beatles fan and words cannot express my sorrow and outrage at what happened.

That was a good song Colly. I enjoyed that.

I visited Strawberry Fields in Central Park once when the snow was on the ground. Lots of flowers and tributes placed by fans. It was really quite touching.

Great chorus by the way.

Cheers.
Mike.

How wonderful to hear something from you Colly!! I really like this! I started playing music because I wanted to be like The Beatles. I remember around '65 wanting a Beatle haircut, Beatle boots for X-mas, and of course, and electric guitar. I remember holding hands with my cousin (I was about 8 and she was 16) while we were walking and listening to "I wanna hold your hand" on her transistor radio. I remember the year Happy Christmas came out when I was in high school. I remember the tragic day in 1980 when I heard he'd been killed. In my mind and heart, music and The Beatles will always be connected. If you haven't seen it, you should check out the movie Mr. Holland's Opus. It takes place in 3 sections, each about 15 years apart. The middle section involves Lennon's assassination. It is a very moving film. Thanks for sharing, and keep posing!! Take care. Greg
