What is the best practice for activating/deactivating BIAB? I notice in my user account that 2015 and 2016 show active registrations. 2015 is no longer on the system with 2016 installed and I will update to 2017 in the next week. So should I deactivate 2016 before installing 2017? Or just let activations pile up my account?
Also a recent Windows 10 update had me calling support to re-activate/register 2016 so I expect MS will step on me again but that's another issue!!
I don't know how to answer this because I have always installed new versions over old. Each year, you get a new serial #, and I always assumed my three activations were restarted. That may be incorrect, and the best way to find out is to call PG Music tomorrow.

My understanding is that if you purchase an Upgrade to 2017, you will receive a new Activation code. Just install the upgrade over the top of the existing version and apply the new activation code. There's no need to deactivate anything. The system takes care of everything for you.

Let activations pile up .. if you run 2016, 2015 will no longer request activation anyway. Plus I sometimes grab an old PG drive and plug it in, and have never had an issue. The old ones seem to stick even though new ones take precedence.

Yes, the specific Activations for each version are accumulated, not overwritten. As rharv mentioned, you can revert to an earlier version if required and it will pick up the correct activation.

If you are changing your license over to a new computer, there is a method to remove the license so that it can be used on the new computer. My advice is that you should check with PG Music though for any special requirements, before you proceed with this option.

The screenshot posted is what I had to do with the Windows 10 update that changed something. PG Music support was very fast and great to help me get things right again.
Yes, good point. If the two systems can run concurrently (e.g. you are not trading one in), you can install BiaB on the new computer, and start using BiaB without migrating the license from your older system. This allows you to make sure that you have everything sorted out first.
