I've got my Ediroll keyboard controller PCR M50 up and running now with little detectable delay. I'm using the ASIO4ALL thingy. I have a midi file that I've started with and was going to record some extra tracks and probably remove some of the originals. I've set PT to record and played along with the track recording on a new blank track set to midi. I have saved the recording.

When I play the file back the new track plays back out of sync. when I had a look at the tracks I noticed that when the new track was written it was written about 23 thingamebobs behind everything else. i.e. main song started at 2.01.00 and my new track started at 2.01.023 I have been able to cut the 023 bit out at the beginning and line the new track up OK but still don't know why it did it in the first place.

There is an eight beat count in on the midi file and this didn't match the record count down box.

should I remove the count in bars do you think?

Any suggestions welcome

I doubt count in had anything to do with it.
Sounds like latency
Can you hear the delay between when you hit a key and when you hear the note?

Does the file have audio and MIDI , and this what is out of sync, or is it MIDI to MIDI that is out?
What tempo and resolution was used when it was 23 clicks (thingabobs) behind?

This will allow us to put it into milliseconds and get an idea what it could be..
May be that adjusting the audio buffers will allow lining up.. or it may need latency adjustment.
I believe the help file explains how to use the latency adjustment file included with the program.. if this is the issue.

Have you tried just using the MME drivers or the ASIO drivers designed for your card?
What soundcard is handling the MIDI?
Does the keyboard have a USB MIDI driver available?

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Hi rharv

There is almost no lag on the keyboard. The ASIO4ALL seemed to fix that problem. The file is a midi only one. tempo is 74 bpm. Once I have cut the 23 thinamybobs out at the beginning the new track conforms perfectly. the soundcard is a Conexant. We spent some time getting the keyboard to work properly earlier on this year and I also listed another post regarding the playback lag. In that particular instance the file had an audio track and I haven't gone back to it to see whether I can do the same thing. I am using a Ediroll PCR M50 controller with a USB interface.

I might try another midi file tonight and see whether it does the same thing.

cheers

Glenn
