Well that was a lot of fun. frown

So I got my 2017 USB key a few weeks ago and just had time now to attempt the installation.

'Attempt' is the operative word here.

I wanted to install on the key itself as I don't have much hard drive space and would like to run the program off a key.
Towards what I thought was the end of the installation it complained about reading a few files (couldn't read them) but it marched on.

Then the big problems occurred:
Installation of the component Loops02.exe was cancelled.
(Despite my de-selecting loops for installation)
Would you like to quit the entire installation?
WTF???
Of course not!

and then...

Installation of the component high_instruments_sforzando.exe was cancelled.
Would you like to quit the entire installation?
WTF???

and then...

Installation of the component realtracks_pro_1.exe was cancelled.
Would you like to quit the entire installation?
WTF???

and then...

Installation of the component realtracks_pro_2.exe was cancelled.
Would you like to quit the entire installation?
WTF???

and then...

Installation of the component realtracks_pro_3.exe was cancelled.
Would you like to quit the entire installation?
WTF???

At which point I realized it was hopeless to continue. frown

Pro guidance would be appreciated here.

From what you've posted, I take it that you have the ProPak deal. I don't know the size of this but, for comparison, my EverythingPak version that I have installed on the hard drive is 135 GB.

With the above in mind, I noticed that on the PG Music website, the USB flash drive is only 32 GB. I suspect that this is not sufficiently large enough for installing the program when one considers that the installation files are also on that device. (See image below.)

After looking through the PG Music website, I can not see a reference to being able to run the program from the USB flash drive that ships the product. (The USB hard-disk drive, though, does mention running the program from the external drive.)

The PG Music team are definitely to people to talk to about this. Their hours are listed under the Support link at the top of this webpage.

I believe the intention was to copy to a folder on drive C:
do the installation, after delete those files on C:

That's what I do with all upgrades and patches for USB drive F:

Just a thought.

I went for the 2015 upgrade to MegaPack on USB key.

Thanks Deddy.
I proceeded with a slightly different approach just now after reading your post.
I had around 6 spare G on my 'c' drive and around 13 G on my USB key drive.

BIAB installed on these two different locations with the following final message:

"Setup encountered issues with:
loops2, hiq_instr, Real Pro 1,2,3, Real Trak Mega 4,5,6
(In other words it didn't install any of them)
You could run Setup again or run the installer manually from the installation folder."

Why it chose not to install those particular parts I have no idea.
At the end of installation there was still 7G of space left on the USB drive.

Before proceeding with installation BIAB should ask the user a series of questions:

1. Are you 18 years of age or older? (Y/N)
2. Are you big enough to make your own decisions? (Y/N)
3. Do you have enough room on your hard disk to install 20G of files? (Y/N)
4. If you don't have enough disk space on your hard drive do you have a USB drive where you can store files? (Y/N)
5. Have you been using BIAB for more than 2 years? (Y/N)
6. Have you been using BIAB for more than 5 years? (Y/N)
7. Have you been using BIAB for more than 10 years? (Y/N)
8. Have you been using BIAB for more than 15 years? (Y/N)
9. Have you been using BIAB for more than 20 years? (Y/N)
10. Have your habits of using BIAB changed at all in the past 5+ years? (Y/N)
11. Have your habits of using BIAB changed at all in the past 10+ years? (Y/N)
12. If you have only been using BIAB for its Jazz (x,y,z) styles the past 5, 10, number of years do you think this will finally be the year that you will start to use all the other styles? (Y/N)
13. Do you want BIAB by default, to install RealTracks/Drums that will take up tons of disk space that you will likely never use? (Y/N)
14. Would you prefer to tell BIAB which RealTracks/Drums you would like to install, so that instead of installing 20+ G of files it will install a much smaller number of files? (Y/N)
etc.
etc.

You need to install to a hard drive, not to a USB flash drive. The default is to install to the hard drive,

Thanks Peter, and does that hard drive have to be c: or can it be another partition that I have, d:, e:, f: etc?
My c: only has around 6G left.

It doesn't need to be c:

I run BIAB from the d: drive and it works perfectly.

You will need to copy your entire \bb folder to the drive you wish to install the program on and then install the upgrade into the \bb folder in its new location.

All the best,
Noel

As an aside this is going to be a serious problem. You need at least 15% free space on your boot drive, or performance will suffer badly.

Thanks Noel. I didn't know about having the initial \bb folder on the drive I was going to upgrade to.

The MegaPAK total size is about 20 GB, and it can be installed on any hard drive, doesn't have to be your C: drive. Run an individual installer from the "Installers" folder on the installation DVD or flash drive, and it should be more clear what exactly the error is. What is the exact error message? For example, when you run realtracks_pro_1.exe.

Here's a second thread that BIABguy created about this issue that contains additional information for those who read this.

At the end of the above thread, Peter Gannon gives a solution.
