Hi,

I have managed to get tracks from BIAB into Reaper ok.

I'm having a problem with the tracks in Reaper losing sync as it gets further into the song.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks for any help.

Are your BPM values identical in Reaper to what was used in BiaB?

They must have the same tempos (exactly) or they will lose synch.

Also, are the tracks RealTracks or MIDI or combinations?

Also...

I wonder if it might be related to 48,000 Hz versus 44,100 Hz settings.

Go to your speaker properties in 'playback' and check that the option, 'Allow applications to take exclusive control...' is selected (#4 on image).

Thank you for the reply.

I did think it was related to that, but I have been over the settings, and everything is 44.1.

I rebooted everything, and started from scratch, and now it seems to be ok.

I'm wondering if it was a ram problem....they are quite large files to be rendered.

Thanks again

Thanks for the help.

I have since rebooted and started from scratch, so it is possible that the BPM values were different.

It appears to be working ok now.

I go from BIAB to Reaper all the time. There are a few (fortunately simple) things you have to do to make everything work.

First, before you import anything into Reaper, make sure Reaper is set to the same BPM as the song in BIAB. Also make sure the time signatures match.

Second, once you have everything imported, select all the BIAB track items, then right-click on one of them to get Reaper's context menu. Under Properties (not Item Properties or Source Properties), go to Playrate, and then click Reset Playrate. This will shrink/stretch all of the .WAVs to where they should be.

It's worthwhile setting the start bar as -1 in project settings. This accommodates BIAB's 2-bar count-in. Doing this will then make each bar number in Reaper exactly the same as BIAB.

I've never needed to check on that. I just drag the .WAVs in from Reaper's Media Explorer and make sure it goes all the way to the beginning. The count-in is there automatically.

The ReWireVST works great with RealBand & Reaper but not working quite right in Biab (though it should have a dedicated ReWire soon). It allows you to re/generate up any section of track with MultiRiffs.
You can also load the Biab video into Reaper.

filkertom, thanks for the tip on the Playrate setting.
You say you have not needed to check Reapers start measure to sinc up with BIAB tracks;...

Are you using or not using a BIAB generated intro/2bar intro in the preferences settings?

And, What method are you using to export/save your BIAB tracks? Are you using the drag/drop quadrant or the [WAV] box in the tool bar, other?

And, how are you saving the .SGU or .MGU? Are you using Save, Save As, Save As Special?

Does the noise in your head bother me ?

Hi Tom,

Yep... the count-in is there automatically.

By setting the start bar to -1, it means that when the intro starts, Reaper will read bar 1 at exactly the same musical location that BIAB reads bar 1 (provided the tempo is identical in both Reaper and BIAB). I find that by having bar numbers synchronised in Reaper and BIAB, it makes it easier to isolate sections when I want to copy and paste (in Reaper).

  • For example, if I find a problem in bar 28 in Reaper and I want to copy a bar to paste over it, I look at bar 28 in BIAB and find out what chord it is. I then look at all the bars in BIAB that have the same chord and same part-marker. Then I audition those bars in Reaper and see if I can find suitable copy-and-paste material.

Regards,
Noel
