I'm developing this short guide to put into the Tips and Tricks Forum. Before I do that, I hope some of you who use the iRealPro app will give this a try and send me any corrections needed.

Instructions to load iRealPro chord charts into BIAB
Prepared by Matt Finley, March 18, 2017. Corrections welcomed.
Open iRealPro
Load desired song.
If needed, touch the iRealPro screen to reveal controls.
Touch the icon to send; it's a rectangle with an upward arrow.
Touch 'Share Chord Chart'.
Choose Music XML as the output choice (instead of PDF or iRealPro formats).
Send yourself the file by email, iCloud, or whatever you use.
Open BIAB
File, Open Special, Open Music XML FIle.
Browse for your file.
Answer the prompts on the Load XML File dialog screen of BIAB (I just pressed OK).
Choose a tempo and style, and play.
Notes:
1. If the iRealPro song name has unusual characters, the BIAB File, Open Special may not respond.
2. Repeats information appears to be unsent or unread, so you have to alter the song form manually.
3. iRealPro does not include melodies, so of course you can only get chords into BIAB.

I also use iRealPro. It's a useful app! I would appreciate if BIAB for mobile devices work so as elegantly as iReal

I have Ireal Pro (v7.02) on a Samsung 12.2 tablet and an mxl file sent to my email and saved, can not be opened (open special) by BIAB (latest version).

Thanks. That's odd. I have 7.0.1 on my iPhone, and files from that work perfectly.?

This a relatively old post but I will look at this. I was thinking I may have to export sound file then get BIAB to place chords over it.

BiaB gives me a Load Exception error when I try to import an iReal Pro XML file.

Works fine on my rig. Took about a minute to do a tune.

I wonder what changed that makes it work for only some of you. PG Music would benefit if you posted an exported Music XML file that cannot be read by BIAB.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
