Doesn't appear to be. Looking at Users/User List: Total posts show Mac 1st with 38,502 and Rharv is 2nd with 17,980. Rharv appears to be the top Active poster.

Do I get a prize?

Mac's number is astounding. It would take me another 15 years or so to catch up to him. We started at the same time here (many of us did, including Matt and Russ) and he has been gone for years. He freely shared a lot of knowledge when he was here.
Still miss him.

I miss him as well.

He had a wealth of knowledge that he freely shared with all.

and not to belittle Matt, Rharv or other users that have seemingly endless help posts these current counts are SINCE this forum was re-booted back in 2000!

Mac (and Matt and a few others) were just as prolific before 2000 reset as since, but those posts and counts are lost to history

I'd guess maybe the wayback machine may have that history, but I doubt any 20 year old server is sitting around somewhere .. just a hunch
I almost forgot everything got reset back in 2000 .. wow, the PGMusic forum has been around a long time

2 points here....

1. Does it matter?

2. Just be glad BAPU isn't posting here like he does in the Sonar Forums.

You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Given the large number of people on the forums that came from the 60s and 70s, I need to ask you to define "highest". I assume you mean "greatest number of posts", but just like the ad that run for The Monkees auditions that read "You must come down for the audition", which did not mean "You must come HERE for the audition"....

Fully 1/3 of my posts probably say, "+1"

Some of us have far more posts than even shows here. Posts made during testing of new versions are not counted.

No, it doesn't matter, but for some it's just curiosity.

It's definitely OK with me to be curious about just about anything.

And look! I just scored another post (but I don't think I'll ever catch up with good ol' Mac).

No count doesn't matter; count here isn't like the old NATO-WARSAW Pact argument where Soviet QUANTITY (tanks & airplanes) had a QUALITY all its own if "the balloon went up."

But I suspect there are more useful (objectively and qualitatively) "posts per count," grouped by the top (pick a percentage you like) high posters HERE then at: Sonar, Steinberg/Yamaha music groups, Yahoo music related groups (in general), or other such sites. Even after factoring OUT the "+1" posts that Matt dismissively claims boosts his counts.

I disagree. Matt, and most of the high count posters, makes relevant, useful, helpful posts and Mac's, wherever he is now, were almost always on point, and to the point.

This is probably the most HELPFUL of all forums including the "OFF TOPIC" subset, which in other forums can be a blood letting of name calling and flame wars.

I personally think the PG forums tend to be the most tolerant of, and friendly to, new folks, even when from time to time (rare) we get new folks who seem to put absolutely no effort into looking up even the most basic of information for themselves.

But the above is just my opinion

Larry

You are certainly right Larry. The PG Music forum has to be absolutely unique in the consistent high quality of material placed here by users.

Absolutely!

But let me add that the "blood letting of name calling and flame wars" is far less here than in the other sites that I visit! Also there is no "dumb @ss, read the Fn manual" answers here either!

I try to keep the '+1' replies limited to the Wishlist forums. Just seems to make sense.

FWIW, in my opinion quantity doesn't count either.
While I learned a lot from Mac's 30k+ posts, I also learned a lot from Harvey Gerst, who has less than 300 posts.

I think the best thing about this forum is members are genuinely trying to help each other.
