I had a weird problem tonight. I installed RB 2016 build 10 on the studio system Saturday. Generated some stuff, seemed fine. All tracks played in time.
Tried recording a band tonight, and the tracks were not lining up correctly when I hit 'Stop-Keep Take'. Some tracks were just randomly not in time.
So I changed the Temp Audio Directory to another drive. Tried again, same problem.
So then I tried using the external hard dive to run it (RB 2016 build 3) .. same problem. I also noticed a yellow message; Error creating Wave Header (or similar)
I eventually went back to running PT 12 from a different drive and had success, but this was a weird night. 2016 has been pretty stable on machine 'A', but on machine 'B' it seemed to wreak havoc tonight. I'm usually pretty good with making RB/PT behave, but tonight was a challenge.
We were trying to record 8 tracks at a time using a Delta 1010 (if that makes a difference) I also noticed the video seemed to be struggling while the failed recordings were taking place. VU would lag, screen draw seemed 'off'. Guess I could check for video driver updates on that system, but this was the first time in many years I have had RB misbehave and couldn't solve it without just reverting back to a very old 'fail safe' version to keep getting work done.
It's a 'newer' system with lots of free space and RAM. Tried rebooting, re-installing .. couldn't get RB 2016 to run with either build 3 or 10. PT 12 ran like a champ, and saved the day, but thought I'd mention it in case anyone has any suggestions.

Bob, you've put forward a significantly detailed description of the issue, and it's obvious that this 'gremlin' is completely unexpected.
There's nothing unusual with the A/virus software or something quite external that could get in the way?
Is the system on a network that could be causing unexpected downloads (/ uploads)?
I guess you'd already be well on top of those things anyway.

I don't know what it is (and I really love RealBand, even with some of the quirks), but sometimes I can use RealBand for hours on end doing everything you can imagine with no problems. Other times, it just wreaks havoc (files don't save completely, tracks won't generate, Windows get stuck behind other windows, etc) and I spend more time trying to figure why it's not working correctly than getting work done. Go figure.
And then the next day it works fine and I'm back at it.

I'm leaning toward a video driver issue.
It ran RB 2012 fine, I put 2016 on it and there is a bit more load on the video (drawing 8 tracks as they record, multiple VUs etc).
Plus the screen was losing time visually (drawing blank space occasionally). I'm hoping if I update the driver it may improve .. I'll likely try a new video card next if still problematic. I'll solve it. I always do. It was just weird and I was hoping someone had some suggestions for me. I give help a lot more than I ask around here, guess I was hoping karma might throw me a bone. <grin> Maybe I'm on the right track already, I'll update results in a few days.
I've seen video driver issues cause some really weird things .. including causing javascript to not run as expected in a browser, any browser on those machines (that was really weird). After two of us were totally puzzled why my software wouldn't run right on those particular machines, our IT guy says "Let me try something". Um OK "What you trying?" "Video driver update." Huh? But it worked. He said it was just a hunch .. The video driver is my 'hunch' on this one.

Well, the bad news is I tried setting this machine to record multiple tracks and had the same issue. I get an error (see below). The other machine was a W8 OS and this one is W7. Only thing the same about them is the Delta 1010 interface. Reverting to 2016(10) resulted in the same error. Using ASIO/MME did not make a difference either.
If someone else wants to test, open a new file, go to Audio-Settings and click the Drivers button, enable additional inputs to record. As soon as I hit OK I get the errors below on both machines. I let support know.
Errors:
- Could Not Prepare Wave In Header [4/1/2017 10:02:20 AM] - Could Not Prepare Wave In Header [4/1/2017 10:02:20 AM] - Could Not Prepare Wave In Header [4/1/2017 10:02:20 AM] **** New Session started at : 4/1/2017 10:02:20 AM
