I made some changes to the first version I posted, based upon various bits of advice given by some of you brave hearts that dared to listen and critique. It is sounding much better to my ears now, thanks to the words of wisdom from Y'all.

Extended some notes, changed some levels, added some extra verb, did a little fading here and there, and it flows more nicely now me thinks.

Please give it listen, or another listen if you commented on it, and see what you think. Everyone usually has a different idea of what they would do with a song, but that's half the fun, at least for me is experimenting with input from others. So based on a relatively loose consensus of opinions that I received from a few members, here, without further undo delay, is the long awaited and scarcely anticipated 2nd version of:

I Left My Heart In San Francisco

heheee - you're gonna hate me for this - but the delay on that verb is so short it sounds too much now.
I know - shut up Willis!

Hey toucher,

I really like what you've done with this arrangement. I didn't hear the earlier version, but this one is excellent. The mix is really, really good. I like the discreet use of harmony and I also like how you're put the sax around the melody. To me, the reverb sounds perfect just as it is. The only thing I'd have a bit of a play around with is when you are singing and the sax is playing at the same time, I'd shape the volume so that the sax is quieter but comes up in the extended vocal breaks. Other than that, this work is extremely well assembled in every aspect.

Regards,
Noel

very nice, toucher! i didn't notice a problem with the verb. reverb is such a subjective thing anyway.

Spot on!!!

Sounded just perfect to me. Verb on vocals kept nice and clean, giving just enough ambiant but not drowning the voice. Sax kept nicely in the same room by adding a tiny bit of verb.
Piano in intro sounds natural now.

Congratulations on a super job!

Superbly realised, Toucher. Nice arrangement, very passionate vocal, nicely recorded. I really enjoyed that.

Hi toucher,

You have made a difference to your song which to my ears is much much better.
I would still make an ajustment to the sax when you are singing, make it just hint at being there.
Well done.
Maybe you could tell us what in fact you did to enhance your song (we could all learn something).

Regards
Michee

Thanks for the responses guys........I made several changes including editing the midi piano on the intro, extending certain notes etc to the midi only because I didn't want to mess with the audio.

Lowered the vocal levels, did a duplicate track of the lead vocal and added some slight delay on that track only.

The main vocal track I switched from plate reverb to a club reverb plug in from Blue Cat.

I will adjust some of the sax levels that conflict with the vocal,

Then I mastered the whole sequenced in PTPA with vst plugins from classic.

If you want to know more, just ask a specific question and I'll try to address it.

Thanks so much, once I get the slight changes made I'll post the 3rd and hopefully final version for your critiques.

Hi Toucher,
I did not hear the original so I can’t comment on that. But this version is spot on IMO. The arrangement and you vox are perfect. Great harmonies and a super bass line.

Two thumbs up on this one. It’s a keeper.

My wife had her driving test today.
She got 8 out of 10.
The other 2 jumped out of the way!

Thanks loads for the critiques, and the nice comments. I guess I'll consider this one ready and move on to the next. I've been feeling like a little Michael Buble` or Bobby Darrin, or.....who knows...

Thanks again.
