How does one generate a midi drum track in BIAB 2017? I force a realdrum track to midi but it is not playing the vsti. Thanks for any help.

Are you saying you get no sound, or it's not playing what the RealDrum was playing?

Hey, John. I'm not hearing anything after I force to midi. I can record a midi drum pattern, and it plays that back just fine when I record on the soloist track with the drum vsti inserted. I put the same vsti on the forced track but there is no activity. Thanks for your reply!

In the piano roll D do you get the notes ?
What Drum VSTi are you using ?

When you say you force a RealDrum track to MIDI, what happens is that the MIDI drums revert to the underlying MIDI style, which have nothing to do with the original RealDrums selected. It's even possible that the underlying style doesn't even have drums.
If you are trying to get your VSTi to play the same thing the RealDrums was playing via MIDI, that's not going to work that way. For example, you could have a straight even 16th RealDrum, but the underlying MIDI style could have had a swing 8ths style. So they won't necessarily sound even close. Not sure if that's what you are doing.
Have you tried loading just a pure MIDI style (and you might need to disable the auto substitution of RealDrums) to see if your VSTi plays that drum part? Also, remember that the BIAB drums are mapped as General MIDI, so you have to make sure that your VSTi is also GM compatible.
Give us some more information on exactly what you are trying to accomplish on that drum track. Which style did you select, so we can test the same thing?
Also, how did you disable the RealDrums? You should right click on the Drums radio button at the top of the interface and select "Force Drums Track To MIDI Drums". Also right click and select "Track Settings" and make sure that you see "Drums track enabled" with a check mark.
I did all of the above and everything worked for me, so the problem might be the underlying style itself, so let us know which style you are using.

John and Pipeline, you guys are a huge help! There were no notes in the piano roll for the track in question. I loaded a midi only style and the drums played just fine. I'm using a Steven Slate vsti btw. Obviously I don't have enough midi styles, gonna have to get some more. As John said, that was the problem with forcing realdrums to midi. Didn't really need to convert the drums to midi, just trying to learn more about the program. Thanks again guys!

Biab don't have any way to drag and drop midi in, so you need to do it in RealBand or a DAW first. You can open your SGU song in RealBand or with a stereo mix of the other tracks in a DAW, create the drum track with MT Power Drums.
Once you have the drum track created, save it to midi or drag the track number to DROP MID.
In Biab, File > Import Melody from MIDI
Choose Ch 10
Go to Piano Roll M (Melody) right click select all notes > Cut
Go to D (Drums) > Paste
While notes are still all selected (red)
If the notes are note aligned to correct beat hold Shift and drag the beginning of fist note to bar 1 or Bar -1 if you have a count-in.
Freeze track.
