I often get inspired by the RT band demos (Those that can be played back in the 'Assign Real Tracks to track'-dialog box when you press "band")

How do I find out which RT's was used to create these demos...???

Hi

Thanks, but I don't think we are talking about the same thing....

When I press the 'Realtracks' button (with the saxophone) and select 'Real Tracks Picker Dialog' the 'Assign Real Tracks to Track' window appears.

Let's say i Filter by 'fiddle' and high lights ' Fiddle, Soloist CountryAndy Ev 165' and then press the button 'band' (right above) a demo starts. At the same time a yellow box shortly appears to the right telling me that the demo #2030 is playing now.
This file I can find under Real Tracks - Demo folder (under the main BIAB folder) as 'Fiddle, Soloist CountryAndy EV 165 #2031 band.m4a'.

However there is no data on this file. Who made it? Which RT's was used to create it? and so on......

The Point is , that these sound demos are very inspiring and I would like to know how they were made?

sincerely

Pipeline is correct. It is typically the same instrumentation as one of the style demo songs, and there is typically a demo song that showcases a particular RT. For example, select a random RealTracks instrument, say "Piano Acoustic, Rhythm BossaNY Ev 085". This is from set # 147. Click on the Song Demo button and you can see a few demos contain this RT. You can see that _BOSSANY demo (85bmp....).SGU is likely the one. For one thing it is at the native tempo. Another thing, if you go to \bb\RealTracks - Demos\RealTracks147 Demos..., you can see that it is a demo song for that RT set.

Thanks Andrew

I'm very happy for this information.

So the 'band' + 'solo' button is to show what the basic intentions with the RT is, and the Song Demo is to change the whole setup instrument wise...?

Question:
If I am working on a song with my own combination of instruments and I find a RT in the 'RT picker dialog', and I then press 'Song demo' all my own instruments disappear from the mixer. Is there a way to get the first instrument combination back?

Thanks again

If there is a way to get it back from within the software, I haven't discovered it yet. I suspect that this is because the Song Demo button loads the BIAB chord sheet and generates from there.

That being said...

Under 'Preferences' you could select the options that tells BIAB to load multiple instances and then start up a second instance of BIAB that you could use to test run song demos. Having two instances of BIAB open would do the job for you.

I don't usually run multiple instances of BIAB. What I always do is to save the songfile before I experiment. Every time I stumble across a selection of tracks that I like, I save the file with a new name and a rating as to how much I liked it. For example, My Latest Song 2 (5).MGU is my own system to tell me that this version of my file called "My Latest Song 2" has a rating of 5/5 - this means I really liked it! By saving the file, I simply re-open it to return to what I had before experimenting.

Sometimes, I also save an abbreviated version of the track name and number that I liked in the song title, too. For example: 'My Latest Song_accordion_2567 (5).MGU'. I've found this to be a good way of recalling the exact track I liked. And as mentioned above, the (5) rating, which means 5/5, also tells me that I really liked this version of the song.

Regards,
Noel

To allow multiple instances running? It's a checkbox in the main Preferences window, lower right-hand section.

Terminal > open -n /Applications/Band-in-a-Box/Band-in-a-Box.app

I could see the Win setting but not the Mac so I just used the above.
You might be able to make a shortcut for it ?

This will start Baib from the shortcut allowing you to run multiple instances.
You may have to right click > Open to run the first time.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/pd55njtmor1fbvv/Biab.app.zip?dl=1
Click No Thanks Continue at bottom to skip login

To create it manually:
In Applications/Utilities open AppleScript Editor.app

Copy & Paste this whole line including "

do shell script "open -n "

into the window

now drag the band-in-a-Box.app (or any other you want multiples of)
to the left of the last " so you have

do shell script "open -n /Applications/Band-in-a-Box/Band-in-a-Box.app"

now go to the App's Menu > Script > Compile (or Command-K)

now Save and change the file type from script to application

now if you right click on the new app shortcut > get info

now drag the original Band-in-a-Box.app onto the icon at the top of the info window to create an icon for it.
