OK I have a song that begins at 85 bpm and after the 1st verse switches to 130 bpm.
I will export these tracks and load them into sonar platinum.
I assume I will set that song to 85 bpm and at the beginning bar of the change just do a temple change to 130.
That's what I plan to do so if that sounds completely wrong to anybody let me know. Thanks everybody.

Well for the record that didn't work. C'est la vie. I can just use the drum track as a click, it won't be in the Final Mix anyway.

Steve, there are two ways to get MIDI into Sonar. If you are importing it from the file menu you will lose all tempo changes. This is set up this way so any MIDI you import will match the already set tempo in Sonar.
The other way is to first set your file associations in Windows. Set both MID and MIDI file associations to default to Sonar. You do this in settings in Win 10. Now click on the BiaB MIDI song and it will open Sonar and bring in the BiaB song WITH your tempo changes. You will have to open your GM synth, probably TTS-1 and assign your tracks to it. You probably already know that you can do this all at once via the Ctr key.

That's a trick i never realized existed, real time saver too. PS it works with Cubase too, and also imports bar-count changes and song name. But there's no need to reset MID files defaulting to Sonar though in Windows settings, as you can also right click on a MID file and select some other program, if you don't want Sonar to start with every Midi file. I'd prefer to listen to a download with something simpler, like Windows media player or other quickie. Thanks for the tip .... F

I'd prefer to listen to a download with something simpler, like Windows media player or other quickie. Thanks for the tip .... F The only time I change MIDI file associations is when I import a MIDI song into Sonar. Then I change it back to Windows Media Player. A PITA for sure but that is the only way to save the tempo track when importing MIDI.
