I've been using BIAB for my band for around 16 years. I always finish them with PT or Cakewalk Audio9 or both. So I end up with a suitable midi file arrangement. When I first started playing out I used I used 3.5" disks with a midi player (yamaha I think). I have always used a hardware sound module. Started out with a Yamaha? and then moved to a Roland sc-880, used that for 12 years then switched to a Roland Fantom XR a couple years ago. I use a laptop now at gigs. Cakewalk had in its sequencing program another program called virtual jukebox. It is (as far as I know) unbeatable for making songlists for live shows. It handles midi files and wav files and .bun files, which are cakewalk midi file with wav in the song.Does not work for that kind of file from Sonar. Also has pop up note pad (Info window in cakewalk) for words and cues . Cakewalk has not upgraded Virtual Juke box for many years and from what I have heard abandoned the program. What do you other players use for songlists at gigs ? Does anyone use VJB ?

"What do you other players use for songlists at gigs ?" We usually have a list on a piece of paper.. I would consider a simple mp3 player if I was doin' it. Or a laptop full of seq file sets load up each track with it's own mixed down song, and save the whole set as a single file Just make sure the solo button is enabled, and you could jump from track to track at will. Build whole shows in one file.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

We are a paperless band man. mp3 sounds too complicated, I like my midi files. To use the VJB you got to have all files in one folder. One out of place file and it really messes up. I may check seq file thing though.

All 3 Pg programs use a juke box. You can load 'em up in whatever order you like. In the tool bar it's called, "Juke". Check 'em out and give 'em a try. Even the older versions of BIAB had Juke.
I use WinAmp's karaoke player. It does everything you just mentioned and then some. It was free last time I checked.

If you try the seq file think- For midi you'll have to save the files as type 0 so they load as one track.. and use the "load scrap" feature to impot them. The trick to the load scrap is that once you 'open' the file it is on the clipboard, and you paste it into the track where you want it, in your case I'd paste them all at 1-1-0 so you can just hit rewind, pick a song and play

Thanks all for suggestions. Winamp looks good to use to play stored music but doesn't have features I need. I will look into PG's juke box features after I get 2009.5 installed this week. ****Still, anyone using Cakewalk Virtual Jukebox ?**** I may post screen shots later as it's an amazing little program maybe we can generate some ideas for PT jukebox.

Vanbasco Player Is A Free .Mid And .kar Player Which Has A Feature To Create And Change As Many Playlists As You Like. I Would Think This Would Be Perfect For Midi. Plus The Fact You Use Cakewalk Also Which, As I Understand, You Can Create The Lyrics And Save The File As A .Kar File Which Will Then Play And Display Words Via This Software.

KaraFun makes a great jukebox, handles MIDI and is free. You could even set it up to display notation if you are clever because it is primarily a karaoke player
