What do you have now (besides the Sound Blaster) and what are you trying to do?

At this stage you are better off with the Audigy than the new Creative X-Fi series because they still have some bugs with some computer setups. If you are still using a lot of midi with your own SoundFonts etc, then you will probably want to stick with a SoundBlaster type card. If you are using a lot of RealTracks, then one of the DXi synths is probably called for. Roland VSC-DXi comes with BB, or ForteDXi can be purchased. The Forte DXi is necessary for some Vista configurations.

Hi,

Your Audigy is best if you are using XP

If you are using Vista 32 then you will need X-Fi Xtreme gamer card or similar - no operating problems here on 32 or using Windows 7 32

To use VSC DXi you will still need the soundcard to go through but bypasses the card sounds - VSC DXi for Vista 32 and Coyote Forte for Vista 32 or 64

OK TY. I have XP. I'll be switching over from Jammer 6 (Soundtrek) to BIAB. I plan on importing all my songs into BIAB. Do you foresee any probs w/ what I might encounter in doin this? I was just confused when I listened to the "Dare to Compare" demos vs the new BIAB 2009 demos. The sounds coming out of the "Dare to... " sounded really cheesey, like what I'm getting now w/Jammer 6. The video demos in BIAB 2009 sounded alot better, so I was wondering what is being used to create the actual sound in the video demos.... soundcard or RSC or both.

It is not the software that creates the sound but the sound card (this applies to MIDI in particular). You get the sound from the sound card

Thanks Graham. What you said made sense to me. I forgot that Roland DSC comes w/ BB. I don't use any midi at all. I get the songs to the way I like em and then record the vocals & lead in a studio.
