Thanks Mike for all of the effort you undertook to assist the O/P with their issue.
You were extremely thorough and very helpful.

Sorry Mike I wasn't referring to you I was just being generic. In fact I appreciate what you do here and your post was really excellent. It's just I suspect it went way over many heads here that's all. A significant percentage of users on these forums and quite possibly the majority don't even know what GM means much less what you're talking about. When I used the word crap I was playing to the crowd, ya know?
If Jan really needs to control the midi fine but if all he's doing is practicing along with Biab songs my suggestion is a whole lot easier.

Hi Bob, I can understand what you mean and I agree with you to use Biab songs while practicing. But I like to explain why I post this topic.
I play piano and jazz guitar on a reasonable level for fun not for living. I use Biab since they start to use RealTracks. Before the CVP-705 I had a CLP-240 together with a Roland BK7-M backing module for playing styles. The Roland was also able to play MP3 and WAV audio songs. But my wish was have everything in one instrument. So I purchased the CVP-705.
I love the RealTracks but boring when you play them over and over in the same song. I made several versions of a song with different RT styles so I could change a bit. But by using midi songs I can change the voices and drum kit on the CVP-705 just having one song version.
I expected it was easy to create a Biab song with midi styles and save them as midi to use with the CVP-705. After it appears that the drum kit voices of Yamaha are not the same as GM created by Biab I started the topic on this forum, in my opinion about a Biab functionality.
I was impressed about the replies, particularly by Mike. And I think there are more member on this forum who are interested in this midi matter. If not you don't have to read this topic at all.
I am still busy with Mike's solution. Thank you all.

Hi Bob
Ok thanks for your post. As often the case the written word comes across hard without any body language wink, wink, And thanks for your appreciation. You are probably right over a lot of this detailed stuff going over some folks head and the old grey mist descending, but hopefully it may shed a light for some of the members who are into these things.
Best regards Mike

Hi Jan
Pleased to see you are still at it From your last post it seems that I was right in that you intention was to export a midi made in BIAB to usb and play in your CVP.
Just as an experiment what happens if you use the cvp as your external synth and play the file in BIAB into it live . This could be where the send GMXG reset in BIAB that you mention comes in useful. I am guessing you already have the cvp midi drivers installed on your pc In which case it should appear on your midi device list in BIAB providing it is switched on and running before you start BIAB.
Or have you established that that does in fact get hard written into the midi events list? Keep up the good work Mike

Hi Mike, I have very good news. I guess I found the solution. To give up is not easy for me.
The last changes I made was to change some voices in the Biab drum kit for the midi style I use for the song. I changed 38/39/40 for 25/27/26. Playing the song in Biab the drum kit changes doesn't sound right, but the midi file version playing bij the CVP-705 is perfect. I can't bel1eve it. Together with your help en my last change I am satisfied at last.
I like to thank everybody for your time and effort to help me with this topic.
Thanks, Jan R. piano: Hammond Skx Pro guitar: Ibanez LGB30 guitar amp: Boss Katana 50 MKII

HI Jan
Well pleased you have found a work around. I can see that would work fine except that the file does not have dual compatibility Guess you could have 2 versions,. We should have been able to solve this with a good patch file. I will have a go creating one for you if I can find a Sona instrument def for your clav. and tell you how to load it as you seem to have a problem loading patch files. This will be useful if you want to connect your BIAB to your CLAV as an external synth and allow you to use any of the voices including the higher bank ones from the panel. May take a few days Regards Mike

Thanks Mike, but you don't have to hurry. I can live well with this workaround.
