Hello Gang,

I haven't been around for a while but took a few minutes this morning to
do some recording and wanted to share this tune. I've probably been working
on this one for a couple of years and I'm thinking it's starting to come together.
It's also taken some time to get used to playing a resonator guitar. I put a recent
self-photo on the link - my how the years fly by. Hope you like it and of course
any and all comments are welcome and encouraged.

Hot picking -- pretty dang clean. ... And your vocals are really improving. Sounding much more more natural. Still gonna get better, I can tell.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the listen. Happy you like it and I agree on
the vocal.. I'm not done working on it and the vocal is
always trailing learning the guitar parts. Just had to let
it out today - I just spent 4 days on a 29 count jury trial
(I was on the jury) and needed to blow some steam.

Hope all is well with you.

Pete,

I like the blues - thanks for sharing. It has that years gone by sound.

VINTAGE!

Sounds great Pete. Super pickin’ and I agree; your vox is getting better on each song.

Hi Mario,

Good to hear from you.

A old friend of mine told me my singing was better than he
remembered back in the '70s. That's the way it's supposed to
for us Capricorns, didn't work out for Elvis though.

Peter - I agree with Mario - Vintage - now you ought to get one of those Vinyl sounding plugins and transport this baby back to the 20's just for fun. I can hear the angst from the jury duty.

Never tried open tuning like that - usually fingerpicked or a deep strumming drive. I have tried a slide on a regular D-tuned acoustic but didn't like it - a resonator would be the way to go. Do you play anymore traditional instruments?

Thanks for sharing that one.

Thanks Ian,

Glad you liked it. The key to slide playing is damping the strings you don't want to sound. Just like every technique practice, practice , practice.

Other traditional instruments? Well, a Leadbelly style 12 string and a short scale Martin 6 string. I used the latter on the version of "Sweet Home Chicago" that is linked on the post titled "Melodyne Beta Test". My oldest guitar is a 1978 Guild F50 which makes it vintage, but maybe not traditional if I get your meaning.

I tried the "vinyl" thing once , but I hated covering up the guitar tones so I never did it again.

Peter,

Felt like I was back in West Memphis for a while there taking a whiskey order in a juke joint.

Very well done.

Later,

Hey Danny,

I wish I was there in West Memphis, then you wouldn't have to drink alone.
Make mine a double.

Thanks bro'
