I posted this in the RealTracks Wishlist, but I'm posting it here as well to see if anyone has any other ideas.

I absolutely love the program but there is one thing that drives me nuts!

I use BIAB in a praise & worship setting with a "full band/orchestra" sound. I commonly begin slow songs with piano only and as the song progresses, I add bass, drums, strings, and horns (I play guitar myself). And the RealTrack piano part that usually works best is "1602: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Pop16 Ev16 65."

But - this piano part occasionally plays a dominant seventh note when the chord is a straight major chord, and this seventh note sticks out like a sore thumb, totally out of place. If it only happened right before a "IV chord" (F in the key of C), that would be okay, but it happens randomly and sometimes it's just awful.

I wish that either:

- The part could be re-recorded without the seventh notes (unless the chord is a seventh chord), or
- A new similar part could be added without the seventh note A new similar part could be added without the seventh note

Suggestions:

Since you've posted in BIAB for Windows, you have RealBand and you can open your file in RB,either multiriff the offending measures or alternately copy a proper voicing of the chord from a measure its correct and paste it over a bad measure. This is the best and fastest way.

If for some reason you prefer to repair the track in Biab, it can be done but the process is more convoluted and involved. If that's your preference, just post that it is and I can post the steps to how I've done it in Biab.

Thanks, Charile, for your response.

I have never used RealBand. If I took the time to learn how to use it and fixed the problem notes that way, then could I freeze the track and open it in BIAB?

Time is a precious commodity to me...whatever is the easiest and fastest way would be my preference.

You can drag the 1602 piano track to DROP MID, drag MID to the the song folder, in BB > File > Import > import that midi,
you can now edit the notes in the piano roll.
The RealCharts are recorded on the same Yamaha acoustic/midi piano, so they should be identical.
You can set the midi track to Sforzando > Piano, it should be the same piano as the RealTrack.
With RealBand, yes you can import the track back to BB as Audio or as the midi RealChart from RealBand (just enable RealCharts first in the Generate menu).

Jim,

One of these might help... they're worth trying.

1. Under Realtrack preferences, there's an option to replace chords with 7ths for jazz tracks (Jazz up triads to sevenths). Check that this is deactivated. It shouldn't impact because you're using a pop RT, but it's worth looking at.

2. Right-click on the chordsheet, select Song Settings and activate the option to "Force simple arrangement".

3. Regenerate.

Regards,
Noel

What Pipeline says will work but you can even bypass that if you check the SuperMidi pianos to see if there is a suitable substitute for the 1602 RT.

If not, let's move on to your question for me.

.... Can I open the track i've fixed in BIAB? Yes.

I would repair the track in RB and export that audio track to my Desktop and then import that audio into Biab and move it to a Performance Track (Replace the RT Piano generated track) which frees up the Audio Track for you to record your Guitar.

You can also save the RB file as a Biab Sgu/Mgu file and open that file up a new Biab session with the repaired guitar track intact.

Any of the four different options detailed here should fix your issue with the bad chords. Even with that, you can also generate multiple tracks with the 1602 Rt's in Biab and mute/unmute to comp a track and export that as audio and the go through the import to Audio Track and move that Audio Track to a Performance Track.

And Noel posted another viable option while I was composing. His method should work the quickest of all the options listed.

Hi Jim,

If you freeze the tracks in a song file that has this issue, email it to support@pgmusic.com, and let us know which bar to look at, we'll be happy to look into this.

Thanks

Pipeline: Thanks for your input, but I would rather avoid having to do all that.
Noel: those settings are already as you suggested.
Kent: Thanks, will do.
Charlie: That's the easiest workaround to me; I'll keep that one in mind until PG Music fixes it.
