Hi, can someone suggest me good speakers for backing tracks. For gigs/parties. Whether is better to have 1 or 2 speakers for that? Price I think should be about 200-300 eur. I couldn't find closely related topics on the internet.

It depends what you are doing and how serious you are about your music. I perform full time. About 75% of my gigs are solo gigs which I use backing tracks for. I've had many different set ups over the last 6 - 7 years. I'm always looking for the best sound while also trying to make set up and tear down as simple as I can. A few months ago I switched systems to the JBL Eon 1. I spent over $1,000 on this investment but it was well worth it for me to have a smaller and lighter PA with better sound at all db levels.

I use QSC K series, 12” woofer and tweeter. 34 lbs. about $800 if I recall. Plays BIAB nicely. Doesn’t need a subwoofer - plenty of bass.

It probably depends on what genre you are playing and what the venue is. My friend has a pair of Turbosound iQ12's that work fantastic when they do house gigs. Would love to hear some other people's opinions smile

I have 4 options the largest being a Fender Passport PA to small Alesis Transactive 50. What I cannot do without is Boom2 software which lets me preset the EQ in my Macbook for each amp.

Hey there Prako2,

It really depends on crowd size, as the more bodies you have in the room, the more sound absorbs. I always suggest aiming for the largest venue you will be playing, how may people, and if you will have a house PA you can also jack into.

For performances under a hundred, you can get away with either a couple of decent studio monitors or a single powered speaker. Though Studio Monitors have small cones and don't cover a room as efficiently.

I certainly plus one JBL Eons if you ever plan on doing large scale shows. Two Eons can easily do a one man show of five hundred or more. I really only can vouch for the first and second series of Eons, I had way too many issues with Eon 3's that I cannot recommend them. Just make sure to pair them with a good mixer to really get the most out of them.

If you can find a good price on a EON 1, that thing is a beast of a tank. I can't even sum up the abuse those speakers suffered, but they played amazing until I sold them. I hear they are still being used to this day.

Now, those are really expensive options. If you want to go there powered speaker route, check out models from EV, Yorkville, or Yamaha as you can generally find them cheaper then JBL's.

C-sharp when you cross the street… or you’re going to B-flat.

I recently purchased a new Yamaha Stagepas 600i from Alto Music on Ebay for $600. I think it's absolutely fantastic. This works as my PA and my main acoustic guitar amp. It doesn't have hi pass/low cut filters and the knobs seem vulnerable to damage when transporting but everything else about it is really nice.
I sold my 12 channel Carvin powered mixer and a pair of 12 inch Electro-Voice speakers for $550 on craigslist so only pitched in another 50 bucks. So far it's been a good move. Way easier to haul and set up and I think the sound quality is tops.
To testify on behalf of Carvin, that 12 channel powered mixer, PA1200, was in steady use often 3 times a week at different venues for a good 19 years or so and still worked flawlessly. It got packed up and transported every time I used it. Often either staying the night in my vehicle or getting put away for the week in my garage or front room.
Anyhow, I had been plugging into somebody else's Stagepas 400i at our outdoor worship services at a campground just about every Sunday morning this summer and I started to realize how good the 400i sounded and how simple and fast it was to set up and break down. But, I figured I needed a little more power and a mid band EQ knob so I went for the 600i. And, I'm glad I did. However, I think in most cases the 400i would still do plenty sufficient.
The newer model is the Stagepas 600BT aprox $900. BT meaning Blue Tooth. Alto Music in NY was selling the older "i" models for several hundred less. "i" meaning iPhone/iPad since you can plug in an iPhone/iPad to it's USB port. Note; it will not read/play music from an Android device. But, I simply use the 1/8" stereo jack anyhow even though I do have an iPhone my backing tracks are on a never-been-activated Android phone I got from Walmart for $65.
Prior to having the Stagepas I was using 1 of 3 other systems. All of which are sufficient in their own ways. A: The Carvin and EV set up for bigger stuff, B; 1 or 2 JBL EON10 G2 powered speakers for small to medium solo stuff. C: An older model Fender Passport 150 for smaller stuff. The Passport 150 is also around 19 years old and still working flawlessly after fixing input jacks at least once.
If you can stretch $400 USD or so I think you will be very happy with a Stagepas 400i. If they are still available.
Oh, I have also used a Kustom PA 50 at times but only on really small stuff or as a side filler. A Pair of these would likely fill your needs. They might seem cheap but are actually not bad at all. The tweeters in them are piezo but are voice somewhere around 4.5 kilohertz or higher which is a good thing as far as piezo tweeters go. They don't sound harsh at all.

Does the noise in your head bother me ?
