Separation Blues Remix A month ago I posted “Separation Blues” for your feedback. The first requirement was to get a real guitarist! *MarioD (no stranger to you) stepped forward and I thank him for his guitar work, and his patience with me while I struggled with the final mix. The second requirement was to add some reverb . . .some dynamics. Some say blues should be in your face, others want the reverb dynamic. So what I did was put the whole band inside a room simulator – RoomMachine844 – gives some dimension but doesn’t wash the song in verb – blues I think should be in your face should be in your face. The organ had some additional reverb plus the room space. Sam suggested I speed it up which I did about 2% - just enough I think. . . not quite the amount you had in mind, I think. Rather than a fadeout as the first version, I abruptly ended it. Suitable for the blues I think. Had to do some RD editing here. Suppose if I had had some RTs for the blues I would have used them but the Hank Strum just didn’t do it. There is definitely still a role to play for MIDI – i.e the organ parts and rhythm piano. The Drums are RDs plus Kick midi support. Thanks for so much your interest and input. I hope you like the remix . . . And again – thanks to Mario for adding some good live dynamics and playing to the mix. I thought I would check in, and lo and behold you had a song posted about divorce. Man, I had to give a listen. This is my third, and I have written songs about the prior two, already. Sure sounds familiar though. I am going to get through this, and get back to you all in a better mood. I'll be darned if I will write another divorce song. But your phrasing was way too familiar... I think a slight musical rework, and this one could be good. The melody was too predictable for me, but the lyrics were right on, ( unfortunately) LOL Thank you for reminding me that I am not alone in this. Third time was not the charm for me. HA HA
I love this family of talent here, it gives me a place to come. I will see you soon

Hey Gene - I originally had four more verses in there - whittled it from 7:30 to the current length. I onceI headed up a separation/divorce support group - which is what I was doing at the time when I wrote the tune. Lots of stories. I wanted a simple format so people could echo the lead line (typical blues style). Any attempts at choruses or bridges did not sound right, and detracted from the dark-humored simplicity so I went with instrumental breaks for interest sake - with a jam session feel. Appreciate the input.
Country music follows a pretty rigid format, but blues is a simple format - as I once heard in a movie "blues ain't nothing but a good man feeling down." - and that's simplicity itself. Take care
