That's some serious musicianship. See, I can listen to the accordion!

He sounds like a full Orchestral.

I have heard, and played with, a couple of really accomplished accordionists. But none have ever been able to make that left hand shake sound convincing above about 120 bpm. This guy had the same trouble. He is clearly a talented and skilled young man. But that left side of the squeezebox is too massive, and the reeds too slow of speaking, to get the kind of breathless tremble you can get with a tight string section. It sounds uncomfortable and awkward enough to spoil the whole effect.
If you know of any accordionist who can really do the shake, please let me know. .

I know that I'm impressed. Of course, if I can't do it, and someone else can, I'm impressed, so.... Ladies, you do a couple of things that I have no desire to, but I'm still impressed...and amazed. Gary
I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Hey Flatfoot,
I have never heard an accordionist that I could listen to for more than 10-15 seconds.
Of course he can't play the way a full orchestra would play. Can you simulate a full orchestra on your instrument? He came closer than anyone I've ever heard.
I'm a guitarist who has won numerous competitions nationwide and I couldn't begin to do what this kid did.
If you know an accordionist better than this kid, please post it. If not, then you should choose your critiques more carefully.
Bob

In my post before I failed to address your statement "It sounds uncomfortable and awkward enough to spoil the whole effect."
How about you post a song of you, playing on a single track with no BIAB or other players in the background, that is even close to what this kid played.
I can't! Can you?
Damn, I hate it when people run something in the ground when they can't even come close to what was done!
Come on Flatfoot. Put up or shut up.
By the way, I don't know who this kid is, so my comments on his playing are simply the result of me listening to what a fantastic job he did.
Bob

Wow. That player is very talented and skilled.
I especially loved the control he had over the dynamics. Most effective.

I agree Matt. I've never heard a single instrumentalist play like this boy did.
He blew me away!

I was also surprised by Flatfoot's comment. However, his opinions are just as valid as mine. If he doesn't like it, then he has that right (even if he is wrong!).

Amazing. Incredible. Fantastic. Superb. I can't even come up with words to describe this young man's talent. He sure did capture the spirit of Vivaldi for me.

Those are all great adjectives to use for this kid. I didn't realize that it was Vivaldi, but I knew I was blown away by it.

No. Neither can I execute a 16th-note shake at 140 bpm without dragging. Just because I can't do it does not mean that this gentleman can.

Here is a video of 11 guys playing what one kid on an accordion played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe-MIDDfckwI have an accordion which I play terribly so I know what Flatfoot is saying about the massiveness of that left side, but I don't hear any dragging on the 16'th notes. I may not have a finely enough tuned ear, however. I thought it was an incredible performance, not at all awkward or uncomfortable, not even the 5'th time I listened! :-) Paul
