That's a really strange problem, fiddler. That all other PG Music files work except these ones has me just as flummoxed as you.

Was a virus checker program (other than Defender) running when you tried to install? Was it running when you downloaded? Try turning that off temporarily.

did that ... other PG installers work OK with antivirus etc active BTW ... i wonder of anyone has an unpacker for these exe files. 7zip cannot, and exe unpacker 1.6.1 neither.

Well I've been a beta tester since inception of the program( RealDrums, RealTracks, RealBand).I play 4 days a week with it over and over again. I have 300 songs.I've made a lot of money with this program. Just saying.

To me, is clear that bug fixing is not a priority for PG Music, there are so many bugs that have been reported for years and are still there, in 2018... This has been said a lot of times here.
That's the main reason why I'm not going to upgrade this year.

OK, by now i'm really fed up with this: quite a few Realtracks cannot work with beat count changes within a song file ... OLD REALTRACK BUGS THAT NEVER HAVE BEEN FIXED: see 2 quoted posts i made below, of many others i sent in over the years; one FROM way back in 2011: (subject:track rendering errors versus chord position ....) With BIAB 2011 and the first bar set to 2/4 i keep getting chord rendering errors: after a few bars the rendered track chord change comes a bar too late, re-rendering does not change this ...... and a post from 2012/2013:Hi Supporters. After upgrading Biab from 2012 to 2013 audio edition, an old Biab bug still keeps pestering on; i complained before about it, and it still makes using the program pretty useless for my goal as tryout platform and sending out demos toward hired musicians before recording stuff for real. I really wonder if your beta testers can't do any better before a release.
THE BUG described AGAIN: If you switch to 2/4 for one bar i bar-settings, and back to 4/4 the next one, the realtrack generated happily keeps it's 4/4 counting totally ignoring the inserted bar-setting switchings, and is as such 2 beats late after that definitely. For me this is a major bug and pretty annoying, i did not use 2012 for demo building for that reason very much. Annoying yes, also regarding all the money i spent on Biab since them ole Atari days. -F.
PS i used RT130, fiddle shuffle. I posted many more similar 'complaints' since, and sent many frozen tracks with added information to support@pgmusic.com over the years, and never had replies which solved these issues; though some staff members occasionally replied, even Peter in 2013. There have apparently been no downloadable fixes with RT updates so far, and my guess must be then that they cannot, or don't want to fix matters at PG LoL .... these fixes could be very welcome, AND I DON'T NEED ANY VIDEOTRACKS, just a working BIAB doing the jobs i want it to do without annoying old bugs. If anybody wants to experiment: some RTs i use for generating backing tracks that mal-function are: 593,594,595,596, 428,429,430, in this case for me all useful fiddle stuff ......... And MANY more RTs behave in the same way. F I've found (and reported) this problem in the past, but, as Noel, can't replicate the problem with 2019 (yes, I finally upgraded, haha), using RT 593,594,595... Are you still having the problem? PS: Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, a lot of good info here...

I just bumped it LoL. As wake up call? 8 years a runaway train moving along all those Realtracks ... i'll report back if i find some changes or fixes.
However please remember, the bug bugs only with 'half-time', maybe therefore it cannot be fixed. BTW i can't find something about RTs and halftime to do with beatcount changes in the manual. PG supporters never mentioned or confirmed it neither in the past.
At times i made a special 'rendering one track only' RT dump with all barcounts set to 4/4, and edited the 2/4 parts in my DAW. F

Now that PG has scratched its 64bit itch (currently useless to me BTW) my big Wish for 2019 is to put at least ONE ofyour lovely helpful Team in fixing the RT bugs so that 2020 is full of Fixes. My particular whinge is with the RT 'synth'ones.Ever since I got BB in 2016 theyve been pants so much so that I look for MST alternatives. That can't be the Plan. I was so ticked off by PG appeasing the 64 bit pushers at the ecpense of fixing the holes in the roof that I nearly didnt buy 2019. Jury is still out on whether it was value for money this year. Wendy Hi Wendy, I've always been a bit baffled why one would choose to use synth RTs when the MIDI ones with a few free plugins would be infinitely more usable, not to mention tweakable, than those rendered into RTs by PGM. Maybe you can let us know exactly what you're trying to accomplish so that you could get more focused feedback? IMO, using RTs for your synth sounds is akin to grinding up a $100 Wagyu steak, grinding it down to mince, adding Hamburger Helper to it, charring it on a grill, and then slathering it with ketchup... Re: value for the money, see my most recent post.

Wendy Wendy, Totally agree with DeaconBlue. If you want some nice synth sounds sign up to newsletter from this site, https://www.pluginboutique.com/Very often they do a nice free synth such as Air Vacuum pro or Hybrid 3 for £1 usually £100, you just stick it on a midi track as a plugin in biab and it will totally transform the sound of your track and song. its very easy just to pick a nice default sound in the synth as well. Keep an eye on off topic forum as well, as Larry and few others usually post when one of these offers reappear. I guarantee if you try one of these synth plugin you will never use a realtrack one again. Just checked, its your lucky day, Vacuum pro is on sale for £1 again,

Argggh!! These answers are making me so angry! Its OK for those Technophiles who want to show how clever they are with midi by manipulating this, changing that, buying VSTs,sound fonts, plugins(Ive got one-its called Glade.Does that count?),and generally d*cking around for hours to make artificial sounds be remotely like REAL sounds. And let me hear any midi BT that hasa shred of "atmosphere" and "feeling" from the "Players" in it-as produced, without a lot of faffing about.Look at all the stufr that folks are recommending we buy/DL in order to get midi to sound decent. Sheesh! Surely the idea of BB,and indeed it is sold that way,is to make creating BTs a fast, slick and SIMPLE process.Go watch a few sales demos. All I and I guess a great many Buyers want is to do just that-not to have to get into the nuts and bolts of a system just in order to get it to work. If the consensus is that midi IS the way forward, then Im out of here.PG sells the virtues of RT/RDs but it seems to me it does nothingto fix the holes in the roof once its got your money. Im so annoyed by this, that Im on the verge of contacting PG for a Full Refund!!!! (really ticked off) Wendy

Wendy,
Technophile I am not, I like the simple and easy way out. You just load the Vacuum pro as a plugin in one of your biab midi tracks pick a sound in it and it can really transform the sound of your song.
You can mess around with the controls on the synth if you want, but no need to, it just plays out of the box. Loads of different sounds with it too....so easy
I Love realtracks too they sound great, but maybe to think that they the realtracks are playing with feeling for your song, might not be strictly right, the players just recorded the audio (and it sounds great) but they have no idea whatsoever what song you are going to use the samples with.
I guess its a case of what works for you.

Wendy, I don't know exactly what to say to you because I don't know your level of understanding of this stuff. Biab is really two separate programs, one MIDI based and one RT based. They work totally different from each other behind the scenes. You are correct in your comments about PG advertising and pushing the RT's because they're easy to work with but since they are prerecorded audio files, they are hard to change. I'm not going to try to explain that, just accept it. How well an RT works with your song depends on so many things, it's useless to try to explain it.
When we mean when we say switch to midi is midi gives you full control but you have to know how to do it. I appreciate you don't want to learn how to do that but if an RT isn't doing it for you, then you have two choices. Learn midi or just live with the RT result.
Biab is but one tool in your music production tool kit. Very few here just use Biab ONLY and nothing else. That can work great until someone runs into an issue like the one you're talking about. When that happens just load up a midi synth, assign it to that track and give it a go. Or, many here will drag all the tracks into a DAW and use a midi synth there for that track. Or, use Real Band for that. You have all the tools you need to correct that track.
This is really no big deal, Wendy. It's not false advertising or anything like that because Biab works just great with MIDI but if you're not happy, get your refund.

Wendy Well some of the Synth sounds are way out, but maybe you might like that. After all Vacuum pro is only £1 so you have nothing to loose by trying it. Just try it on a midi track, not as a default synth in plugins. When you open the plugin folder and say you want to add the synth to the piano track, it wont appear automatically, you will have to add the vacuum pro.dll file, where it says in plugin dialog add VSTi plugin. Once biab gets to know where it is, you wont be asked again. So make sure you remember where you installed it, when ruuning the setup.
