I have a midi keyboard I want to use in recording. From the posts I have seen on this forum, I need to buy a Midi to USB cable.
When I get that, are there any special tips for use? And, do I leave my audio on MME?

Hello
Most Audio Interfaces have MIDI in and MIDI out. Not only will this allow you to use your keyboard, most audio interfaces come with low latency ASIO drivers.
A really great interface should not cost you an arm and a leg. Most MIDI to USB cables just do not have the same ability as an actual Audio Interface. You also get the benefit of Audio Inputs if you ever decide to record Audio.
Check out some Audio Interfaces made by Focusrite or Steinberg for some excellent units at low cost.

Thanks, Mikke. I already have a Scarlett 2i2 so I don't want to buy another interface. I think I have found another way to do it though.

I think I need to go back to recording on tape.:)
I purchased a Mio USB to Midi interface. This is not a WalMart special. It came from a real music store.
The box says it is plug and play. So I did. I went to RB and clicked on preferences, midi. RB sees it. I tried to record a track with it. Nothing.
Anyone have any idea what I need to do?
Getting more serious about the tape idea.

OK, I finally got the Mio Midi to USB to work. There were no instructions in the box so thre was a lot of trial and error.
If anyone tries this, you may want to note the following:
There are two midi plugs on the cable. Both had to be plugged into your keyboard. On the Mio, one plug is white and one is black. The white one must be in Midi Out. The black one goes to Midi In.
