I haven't heard from PG Music so I guess I might have to live with it or do a re-install.
If I do a re-install, will I have to go through the trauma of re-installing all of my Realtracks again?
That would be a nightmare !!!

Both files played fine once I changed from the WAS driver.

WAS is a Windows Audio Session driver and was introduced with BIAB 2018. Since you have BIAB 2017, it won't be there. For what it's worth... I'm not sure that a re-install will solve the problem seeing that all other files play correctly. It seems more likely that these couple of non-playing files are corrupt in some way. As a last-ditch attempt... go to the link below and set the Audio and MIDI as shown by the numbers on the images. This set-up is the most basic and sturdy when it comes to problem solving. Before changing the settings, though, under the "Options" menu there is a choice to save preferences. I suggest you do this just in case you need to re-load the original settings that you had. http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=461558#Post461558Lastly, if you have any musical USB devices plugged in, unplug these and re-connect. Hey Ovation,
We did not have any oddities with your files on our end, as previously mentioned I hoped that factory settings would have absolved the issue.
By default, there will be the option to select an ASIO driver. Do you have an Audio Interface with it's own ASIO drivers, or do you use a generic ASIO driver like ASIO4All?
It may not do much, but you can always try a different Driver. As Noel pointed out, WAS was not available in 2017, so an ASIO driver may be the best way to try if you have one setup.
Interesting that others also can play these files, so I doubt it is the song itself.
At this point, I would vouch for a reinstall as well. You do not need to reinstall your RealTracks or RealDrums. You can back these files up outside the bb folder, and once you have deleted the bb folder and reinstalled, place the contents back into their respective folders.
Please let us know if the issue persists.

Yes I have tried ASIO (ASIO4ALL) and MME with the same results.
I will try a re-install and let you know what happens.

Well I seemed to have found where the problem lies, but noe solved it.
In the song it starts with first 4 bars as drums only and next 4 bars as drum and bass only.
This was achieved by entering Em.d for drums only and Em.db for drum and bass.
Instead of using this method, I tried using the MUTE facility in the Bar Settings.
Then saved the file and re-loaded directly from the .SGU file and everything played as normal.
As I said, I have got over the problem but necessarily solved it.
Maybe PG Music has some more suggestions based on this latest info.

Hi Ovation99, That's odd, but unfortunately still doesn't get us any closer to a solution, as this song is working for us on multiple computers. I'd say deleting the BB folder and reinstalling from scratch should take card of it, but if muting tracks using Bar Settings works, then it may not be worth the fuss. If you use the Em.d method to mute tracks on a new song, does it crash as well? If not, I'd likely just use Bar Settings for this song and not worry about it.  Thanks Kent PG Music

Well I think I have a bit nearer to the problem.
It seems to associated with Realdrums.
Here are some permutations.
C. / C.d = Stops after first bar/ Locks up
C. / C.b / C.db = Plays normally
C. / C.d / C.db = Plays normally
I have tried various combinations (too many to list here) and it all points to the insertion of a period after the chord name.
I thought it might be Realdrums, so I changed the track to midi drums and the same lockup happened
But if I define an instrument immediately after the drums bar, it plays normally.
Totally stumped !!!

It's possible that what we're all seeing is a minor difference between BIAB 2017 and BIAB 2018.
I, and I suspect all others, tested your files on BIAB 2018. Whereas you were testing them using BIAB 2017.
Just a possibility.

Hi Ovation99, The song works fine in my 2017 version as well. It really seems like the problem is only occurring in that one installation of Band-in-a-Box on your computer. Personally, I'd either delete the BB folder and reinstall, or just use Bar Settings to mute instruments for now. Since there's a download manager to help install the RealTracks in the 2016 and 2017 versions, you've probably already spent more time troubleshooting this issue than the reinstallation would take. you're probably right, I think I'll bite the bullet and do a re-install.
Will I lose all my styles?

Got it all working again as it should do.
I was worried about deleting the C:/BB folder and re-installing and then I remembered that I had some saved "Preferences" files.
Went to Options menu and selected "Open Preference file" and selected a previous file date and Hey Presto we're all back.
Maybe taking this route may help others who stumble upon an unknown problem.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums.
