Good Afternoon All, I hope the image above is visible to you all. It illustrates three WAV files in RealBand, all drag and dropped from the same RealTrack within the same BIAB file, but generated in 3 versions of BIAB. Track 1 from BIAB2018 Normal full volume render. Track 2 from BIAB2019 64 Severely reduced volume render. Track 3 from BIAB2019 32 Normal full volume render. My render settings did not change, all programmes run as admin. Any clues as to why this should be? For my usage and workflow I can probably live without 64bit, but, when I open a file by double clicking it's icon, 2019 64 is the default. Regards Vintage

I had a very similar issue some time back, and, IIRC, it had to do with me leaving the "Normalize Tracks" or something similarly named unchecked somehow. Don't have the program with me atm, but I'm pretty sure if you drag it into the + symbol in the middle of the Drag & Drop station, that pops up as an option in the dialogue box... Maybe that option is not default in the 64 bit version? Or I could be totally off track on why you're having this issue, but it can't hurt to try :-)

If you go to your bbw.exe file in the BB folder you can right click and send to your desktop as a shortcut. Then you can rename this 'BIAB 32bit' or similar. This way you can call up either the 64-bit or 32-bit BIAB as you wish. I think there are still some 64-bit issues to resolve which might take a little time.

Tony I currently have both shortcuts on my desktop, but I prefer to open files by double clicking in Explorer rather than opening the programme then finding and opening the file. This obviously saves massive amounts of time, but it's what I'm familiar with. Deacon As far as I can see, render settings are the same for 32 bit and 64 bit versions and these are both as I had set in BIAB2018, so I don't want to change 64 and possibly mess up 32. Thanks to both for the replies, as I have previously said I can live without 64 bit for the moment, and just accept this as the regular annual dance around issues that seem to accompany each update Regards Vintage

Regards Vintage I agree, dragging a single file so that it ends up in the DragDrop folder shows generally a -3dB level when the mixer channel level has been maxed. - 3dB is OK, but 0dB maxed out would be better. 16 bit audio imported to a DAW usually converts to 24bit, gaining headroom if you want to lower the volume and keep the quality for using effects etc, me thinks. Another issue?: rendering one single file seems to take four times the time as with the 32bit version. I've filed it with PG support. -F

Vintage, we did ask about double-clicking and file associations during testing. As I understand the answer, you can’t have two programs, or a choice, to one Windows file extension. Since you can open the same file in the 32 or 64-bit versions (and go back and forth saving - I did it), I’m not sure what the answer is. I suppose eventually we may be able to delete the exe file for 32-bit but we should not do that now.

Vintage,
Was exactly the same SGU/MGU file used in each of the BIAB versions and was the Realtrack in the image on exactly the same track (e.g. 2nd from top)?
The reason I ask is because Realtrack volumes are also style-dependent. When a style is designed, volumes are set so that the 'balanced' sound results in a mixer value of 90. This is done using Stylemaker.
In other words, if the underlying style from which the file was dragged is different, it is more than likely that the volume of the output audio will also be different.
This is easily modified in Realband using the PG Music's "Audio Effects | Gain Change" plugin.
Regards, Noel

All:
Just to make sure everyone is aware of the default file associations in windows, the default is 32bit when you do the upgrade. If you want your default to have any song files double clicked in your file explorer open up in 64bit, you must change the file associations in the file utility menu/associate file types in BIAB.
If you are running the 32bit version and you click the file utility menu/associate file types it will change the registry pointers to open up BBW.EXE (32bit) going forward. If you want 32 as the default, you have to open up the 32bit version and change the file associations to make the change
If you are running the 64bit version and you click the file utility menu/associate file types it will change the registry pointers to open up BBW64.EXE (64bit going forward. If you want 64 as the default, you have to open up the 64bit version and change the file associations to make the change.
To make it simple, each version will act as a toggle. That is how it is done.
I verified by examining the registry pointers last night.

jcland,
All files opened by double click immediately after installation and since have defaulted to 64 bit. I tried right click, but 'open with' options are 64 bit or RealBand, also tried to change association in properties but only 64 bit available. No big deal just a minor inconvenience, if the volume issue is resolved 32/64 choice should become irrelevant, (assuming no other issues).

I discovered this when revising a Realtrack in a .seq file after some other edits, so, for a more controlled test, I abandoned his and went to a 'virgin' BIAB2018 file made last week. The file was opened in 64 bit then 32 bit and the same track was drag and dropped from each into the .seq also created last week, resulting in the screen grab in my original post.

Hello VintageGibson et al!
Thank you very much for this report. The developers have confirmed this as a bug and will be releasing a fix with the next available build in a day or two.
Keep an eye out for Build 604!

Alyssa,
Thanks for the reply. I hope you are referring to the volume issue, not whether I can chose 32 or 46 bit versions.
Will look out for 604.
