Since ordering BIAB 2018 last December, the GST "free" limit has been lowered, and will now be charged on the BIAB2019 I've just ordered on HD.
Has anyone here is Oz recently purchased any items from overseas that attract GST? If so, how is the GST collected?
I imagine you get notification from Customs when it arrives with instructions of how to pay.
Any advice appreciated.

Yes Keith, I’ve made plenty of purchases subject to GST. For example I purchased the UltraPAK upgrade for US$99 and the US$49 for the 49Pak by the time it hit my account it was A$203.22.
As near as I can work out the GST is usually applied at purchase although when I look it would need to be more with the 10% GST.
Similar with other products. I have not received anything from Customs or whoever at this end.
The bank also adds a small % for overseas purchases $6.10 in this case.

Thanks for your response.
The package I opted for totaled $US223.00 which converted to $AU306.00, which is about right based on today's exchange rates. (I'm sure the bank will add its fee as well).
I did notice that when I ordered the package online last night, there was a disclaimer from PG Music, basically saying that they (PG) were not responsible for any taxes on charges for products shipped outside of US & Canada, and were payable by the recipient.
I may just have to wait & see what happens when it hits Sydney.
Was the purchase you mentioned for BIAB 2019?

The product I purchased was 2019 from PG. I have also made purchases from Pluginboutique and Izotope as well as others. I thought I was charged GST but now I’m not so sure. Poor ole Gerry Harvey will be upset.

Poor ole Gerry Harvey will be upset. Gerry's the one who pushed hardest for GST to be applied on imports, and he doesn't even sell BiaB  .

I can understand Gerry’s point if the product has an Aussie outlet that was being bypassed (Aussie businesses missing a sale because of the addition of GST puts up the price) but in this case it is not. Even ScoMo understands for some of these non Aussie companies without an Aussie outlet the cost of collection of GST is probably higher than the return. Do the Indian Scammers collect GST on behalf of the ATO? They often claim to be local I guess they should.
