Hi, I have sent PgMusic support the info in this abort issue but I am curious if anyone else has had such an issue and solved it. If not I will post the solution when support hopefully finds it.
Using this video and the jazz template I learned how to create the user track files (see image). I then applied it to track 7 of a simple 12 bar blues BIAB file and started getting these issues. 1/ It either aborts when I run the "regenerate and play" or when I close the BIAB session to try and save the file. 2/ If it does not abort on the "regenerate and play" and it actually runs I do not hear any count-in and it will abort when I try to save the file. In this situation if I solo track 7 I hear the replacement count in that replaces the muted drum track count in. 3/ If I attempt to save the file every time I try to open it I get an abort (file is unusable). I was using a copy and did not loose my original.
Details and things I tried: It does the same thing on my desktop and my notebook. Both are using MME. Both are using "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" I am running windows 7 professional on both my desktop and notebook. BIAB is 2016 version 438. I think all the patches are on the notebook. Not sure about the desktop since I reinstalled BIAB after getting a new disk drive about 6 months ago. The desktop has a solid state drive and has a lot less latency. The notebook has a regular drive. So I do not think it is a latency issue. However on the desktop BIAB is running from an external USB hard drive (not sure if the solid state C drive is of much value). Both machines are I5 intel machines. I am recording directly into the computer mike input from the guitar on both machines. When I am running BIAB using the "Song_1m_Jazz_1.SGU" file the audio recording sounds okay. It seems to be in sync on the desktop. On the notebook with the high latency it is delayed by about 1 beat (a different issue I might not need to worry about since I will likely always create these on the desktop). I tried running the user track on a brand new BIAB file where I entered fresh chords. I get exactly the same problems suggesting the file I am applying it to is not the issue. I have never tried using the "user track" button because it always seems to apply it to track 1 which I want to keep as is. If it eventually runs properly I will try ASIO on both machines to see if it helps make the latency any faster.
I will throw some things out while fresh in my mind, do you run BB as Administrator, did you try it in RealBand. I'm trying to remember something like this happening before to someone, maybe have a look back thru the UserTracks forum. It's trying to access the files on an external drive F:\ is BB running from this drive or Laptop C:\ ? If BB is on C:\ you can try copy the usertrack to c:\bb\RealTracks\UserTracks then set BB to that RealTrack folder just to try.

I tried recording the user track with RealBand using this video as a guide and it worked. I created a wma file as the video said. I was able to read in two BIAB files and apply the user track, regenerate it, save the BIAB file, read it in again and play it. I tried key changes and although it gave me a message saying it could not do that it actually did do it (the popup seems to be a bug). The first video says BIAB can change keys.
I went back and tried creating a brand new user track with BIAB but running as administrator. This did not fix the problem (it aborted again as described in the first post of this thread). If it did fix it that would be a bug because the video never said to run as administrator. I guess I just proved we do not have to run BIAB this way at least on the usage end of it and I did not run RealBand as administrator.
I did not realize there was a "user tracks" forum. I would have posted there if I did. Don't have the ability to move the post. I will let PgMusic support know of this thread.
My test which worked was using the F:\ drive as before (the external USB drive that came with the ultra pack).
One difference is with RealBand I created a .wma file and with BIAB it creates a .wav file.
So because creating these user tracks is not hard and I am getting the same error on two machines and because I am using 2016 which is two versions after this feature was introduced I have a brand new question. Has anyone got BIAB to successfully create a user track and if so what version and what is your setup? Maybe people rarely use this and a bug has been introduced since it was first released.
