Scrolling the forum there are lots or problems with the current 2019 version of BB.
As the (pseudo?) VST option not only for me is the reason for a probably upgrade I will ask, if PG-music will accept a longer upgrade period as end of the year.
An upgrade period that is related to a stable and working version.
I am willing to buy the upgrade, but not willing to act as a final beta tester.

No offense to you personally but your post was my last straw on this topic. I FULLY appreciate wanting a fully working stable version but here is the logic of that position (and you are not only one asking for such a price consideration – and again this is not aimed at you personally):

Your position presupposes that BIAB 64-BIT might never be fixed and you don't want to buy it until it has ZERO issues, OK that's a valid consumer point of view. Then simply don't buy it. Wait until ZERO reported issues (maybe December 29, or January 3, or maybe April, or May or June 31st ?) but then buy it at whatever price PG decides is appropriate at that point it will be higher (it will not be a sale price probably).

OR

Buy BIAB now, at the lower sale price, then SIMPLY DO NOT USE IT, so that you are not BURDENED with being a beta tester, until BIAB has zero 64-bit issues. If you do that you get BIAB (and RB) upgrades whenever, and all year long (until next version), for FREE unlike Steinberg and many, many other software manufactures. BIAB 32-bit version is stable now and nothing is stopping you from making SONGS with the 32 bit version - while you wait.

BTW if you are running Windows 10 Home (even Pro) or even Win 7, Cubase, Reaper, MS office, any 3rd party A/V,or most any commercial software you are already a beta tester!

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year (I actually mean that,no disrespect or sarcasm intended)

Larry

That answer by Larry is one of the best I have ever read.

Yes, anyone using a computer is beta testing everything about it.

If you scrolled the forum yesterday, you saw that BIAB 2019 64-bit is very nearly caught up to the stability of the 32-bit version. I think that is remarkable. Now the company can concentrate even more on improving the brand-new VST Plugin.

I am not that simple minded to expect ZERO issues, but at the moment the offered key feature doesn't seem to work.
I learned that lesson ages ago never to buy a software in expectation of a certain feature.
By the way, all the years I am using reaper, it never has crashed!

ok, buy a car and don't drive it, buy a bread, and don't eat it ...

I put a simple question here and don't want to end in end- and worthless discussion, so, I am out.

I don't see what's so wrong with Horst's post. He asked in a respectful -but honest- manner, and what he asked for, given the circumstances, it doesn't look too unreasonable to me.

He's not the first person asking for that.

I Too think it is a reasonable request, I would like an extension on the 30 day money back as well.

If certain issues are not resolved then we should be able to say, ok if that's it do I want it or not.

It was not made clear on the issues before purchase, example how many people have said ..Oh I thought the vst would be able too...?.

So yes I do think an extension would be nice on pg music's part ?.

Still no idea at the end of the day what the vsti will bring to the table.

Just saying now !!.

A lot of folk will be popping on to the forum reading what's ..what maybe before doing the upgrade.

This doesn't help one bit.

If they knew that they can buy and try even with bugs, then be in a timeframe to see the issues, as I like to call them ironed out.

Bit more of a safety zone as the issues will be sorted by then as we know, but they don't.

Yes I know that and respect that.

But we are only trying to highlight the limitations, before getting a good crack of the whip.

As someone posted a wee while ago, more issues this year than other years, but to be expected as the changes are more than usual.

So this is not as upgrades go , this is a turning point for the programme, so maybe a special extension.

I for one do not want to be forced to throw the towel in , but I might have to as my time line might pass and 2019 might not hold all I wanted for my money.

A special one for sure, I am confident the issues will be sorted.

Would like to know the limitations of the vsti, then I know if this is acceptable .

Yes, the original post was a reasonable request, and respectfully stated.

I don't remember a time in the past when we were as close to 30 days after the first release that some major components were still being worked on this hard. Past practice is not a guide, but sometimes PG Music extends the sale until mid-January. It will be interesting to see if they take this request into consideration.

In my observation, there are no longer any showstoppers that prevent people from making music with BIAB 2019 as they did with 2018, plus they have new RealTracks and styles to use. The 32-bit version is solid, and as of yesterday's patch, most people's 64-bit version is working with only a couple of remaining folks having issues.

The brand-new VST Plugin is the wildcard here and fixes are coming fast now. But you don't have to use this; it's a convenience to work within your DAW but it isn't essential to make music when you can still Drag 'n Drop tracks. Still, it has terrific potential.

Strawman alert.

That's not what horst said at all. You seem to have twisted his message to make it easier to fault.

Moreover he was polite.

He just has this idea that if you pay for something, you should get it, not maybe get it.

Why is it "remarkable" that they have almost fixed the known bugs in a product they released 3 weeks ago and had a year to work on? You need to raise your expectations!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
