Saludos de nuevo Carlos, quisiera me comentaras cuál es la mejor configuración para BIAB.Me compré un equipo nuevo y es un HP Pavilion x64 con 4G de RAM y que viene con el Vista x64. Como es lógico en XP nunca BIAB me ha dado la lata.También utilizo el plugins DXi ForteDXi,el problema empieza cuando cambio el DXi por el Bandstand. BIAB se me queda loco cuando intento trabajar con él y al mismo tiempo quiero tener el navegador firefox que es el que utilizo abierto. Quisiera que me comentara cuál es la mejor configuración para BIAB, y si es conveniente quitar el Aero de vista.

Hola Angel, gusto en verte de nuevo. Interesante pregunta y muy en boga su temática en el cada vez más amplio grupo de usuarios de Band in a Box. En estos momentos me preparo a salir dos días para un concierto con mi banda, voy a ir pensando y analizando el asunto para contestarte apenas regrese. Un adelanto, a pesar de la potencia y eficiencia de los equipos hoy día, lo cual da un margen muy variable para sostener varias aplicaciones y procesos en multi-tarea, yo prefiero en lo particular mantener mi aplicaciones musicales o de audio dentro de un margen cómodo; esto implica en muchos casos liberar al procesador, la memoria y el cache de esfuerzos que en conjunto vayan en detrimento de dicha aplicación musical, Band in a Box hasta ahora ha descollado como tu dices por su estabilidad y confiabilidad en Windows XP , sin embargo Vista a veces implementa un consumo cuasi inutil de recursos en su mayoría para funciones de índole estético y superficial que van en detrimento de programas como Band in a Box, por muy potentes que sean los procesadores!. Seguiremos en breve y en detalle.....un gran saludo.

Hola, aqui estamos de regreso. Angel, estamos seguros que con esas caracteristicas tu nueva PC debería ser capaz de desempeñarse bien en cualquier tarea o exigencia. No nos mencionas que tipo de placa de sonido estas usando o interface de audio y/o MIDI, usas ASIO o directX? si puedes por favor amplia mas los detalles de tu hardware incluyendo procesador, capacidad y caracteristicas de disco duro y envialos aqui. Puedes usar si lo deseas una utilidad llamada Everest que hace un analisis y un informe de todo el sistema en tu PC. Hay una version de prueba de libre descarga. Estos datos son importantes ya que hay muchos detalles en cuanto a compatibilidad e interacción de dispositivos, controladores (drivers) y aplicaciones con los diferentes sistemas operativos 32 bits(x86) y principalmente con los de 64 bits (x64). (VER NOTA AL FINAL)
Band-in-a-Box corre muy bien en sistemas operativos de 64-bits, sin embargo algunas de las aplicaciones como el sintetizador VSC no trabajan en dicho sistema. Como habras comprobado el ForteDXi si trabaja en 64 bits. Aunque en lo personal no es mi sistema operativo (SO) preferido, el Vista puede ser configurado para correr mas liviano, principalmente se recomienda desactivar el ya famoso control de cuentas de usario el cual trae problemas de permisos y escritura en disco. En cuanto al AERO mi recomendación en general es la de desactivar todas aquellas opciones gráficas NO indispensables que puedan interferir o hacer mas pesado al sistema, entre ellas el Aero. Por supuesto, si solo vas a reproducir archivos MIDI o Mp3s no habra necesidad de mucho "tuneo" o configuración especial para la PC. En cuanto al BandStand es un magnifico programa tipo GM a base de muestras o samples, aunque creo que fué descontinuado. Yo he usado la versión a 32 bits en WinXP SP3 32bits, por lo que deberias chequear cual es la tuya e investigar si hay version de 64 bits disponible. Recuerda que el BandStand tiene que cargar en memoria y a la vez direccionar en disco duro las muestras de cada sonido que una cancion de Band in a Box requiera, lo cual es mucho mas lento que si usaras por ejemplo el Roland VSC basado en sintesis, esto puede generar un atraso o incluso un bloqueo. Si estas teniendo conflicto con otra aplicacion como mencionas deberías chequear si el navegador tiene activo algun plugin de audio que se encuentre en una diferente resolucion y profundidad de bits que la que tienes configurada para el Band-in-a-Box lo cual podria ocasionar problemas, ya que algunos drivers no estan preparados para realizar multitareas de audio y multimedia.
En cuanto a la mejor configuración existen varios aspectos importantes a tomar en cuenta, uno de ellos es el relativo a la arquitectura de los sistemas operativos a 32(x86) y los de 64 bits (x64).
En tu caso y teniendo Vista x64 no tendras problemas con la RAM. sin embargo se plantea el problema de la compatibilidad de ciertas aplicaciones a 32bits con las plataformas de 64 mas actuales. Varias firmas de software estan ya actualizando y produciendo versiones de 64 bits. Otra solución pareciera ser la retro compatibilidad, como por ejemplo el nuevo Windows 7-64 bits que supuestamente permite mayor compatibilidad con las aplicaciones nativas de 32 bits. Actualmente una inmensa mayoría de sistemas para audio semi y profesional siguen todavía en SO de 32 bits como WIN XP 32(x86) a pesar de las limitaciones de la memoria ram. Otros, incluyendome, instalan dos sistemas operativos diferentes en la misma maquina, lo cual se puede hacer particionando un mismo disco duro o en un disco duro secundario, de esa manera se puede ir probando y ensayando como funcionan las aplicaciones en uno y otro.

NOTA:
Los SO a 32 bits como el Windows XP 32 tienen una limitación importante en la cantidad de memoria ram que pueden gestionar siendo 4 GB el limite y de los cuales solo va a reconocer entre 3 a un max de 3.5 GB en el mejor de los casos. Los sistemas operativos a 32 bits sólo pueden direccionar 4GB de memoria RAM, sin embargo esos 4GB se compartiran con otros dispositivos como la tarjeta de video o gráfica, al final solo se dispondrán de 3.5GB y aún menos si hay que mapear muchos dispositivos. Además las aplicaciones base del sistema requieren un ancho de 1 GB lo cual nos deja al final con solo 2 GB disponibles aprox. La solución a esto por supuesto la tinene los SO a 64 bits ya que ellos soportan hasta 64/128 GB de memoria física.
