I tried to add a harmony to a melody today in BIAB 2019 Megapak but although I can hear and see all sections of RealTracks in Notation, Chords, PianoRoll, Mixer etc when I click on AudioEdit to add harmonies there are no waveforms on any tracks. All the tracks are empty although I can hear the sound as the song plays and view chords, notation, pianoroll. I can save each track as wav files as well as the entire song but the tracks are blank when I view them in AudioEdit. I get this with all the RealTracks styles I have tried. The Mixer is green for each track confirming that there are only RealTracks and no Midi.
Audio edit is an editor that's designed for use for the Audio track. It does not edit other tracks.
If you want to add harmonies to any other track using this feature, it's necessary to save as a Performance Wav and then associate that performance wav with the Audio track.
If one wants to add a harmony to a melody, it's necessary for the melody to be MIDI and then one uses the "Harmony" menu found on the upper-most horizontal menu.
What would you like to accomplish? If you give us a specific example, with as much information as possible, maybe someone on here can offer a suggestion as to how to accomplish it.
The image below shows the fly-by that is displayed when the mouse cursor hovers over the "Audio Edit" menu shortcut (#1). I've labelled the Audio track #2.
I can't get anything to view either. Seems that feature only works if you have an audio file on the Audio track. It will not work with RTs on any of the other channels. And that is all I know about it...
I was trying to add a harmony to a saxophone RealTrack melody. I assumed I could do this based on the video about adding audio harmonies.
However, after a lot of puzzled attempts I scrolled down in the comments section on YouTube below the video and this comment and reply confirmed what you have stated: "Really great ... but how did you generate the Sax Solo as a WAV file to begin with? You never show how to make the audio file and load it." PG Music " Hello! This video is intended to show you how to add harmonies to something you've recorded into Band-in-a-Box on the audio track. The sax solo is done on the audio track within the program - simply record yourself playing an instrument within Band-in-a-Box. We have a video on how to record audio with the Mac version here: https://youtu.be/qHrgavOG2Fk We are working on a tutorial that will shop how to get a RealTracks instrument onto the Audio track - stay tuned!"
After reading this exchange I realized I had exported some individual wav tracks including the same sax melody for fine tuning in Acoustica Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio. I imported the melody wav file unto the audio track and immediately saw it and then the AudioEdit options which had been grayed out. I was then able to add harmonies as in the video. So I think PGM needs to change the title of this video to make it clear that it is intended for a track that was recorded such as a vocal or instrument. However, importing a wav file and editing it is, as you suggest, the way to go and it is just that the video was a bit confusing.
Thanks so much for your reply. I listened to some of your songs and was very impressed.
In my post above, I mentioned performance files as one way of getting a non-audio track's file onto the audio track.
It didn't occur to me while I was writing the above post that importing a file to the Audio Track is an alternative way of loading audio. I'm pleases that you found that!
Thank you for listening to some of my song and for the positive comment. I sincerely appreciate it.
